98 cobra HID conversion

There was a recent discussion of this in the 5.0 forums. You might want to do a search and check it out. I recently looked into this for my 04 Crown Vic. What kept me from doing it was the fact that with the aftermarket kits you lose your high beam function on vehicles with only one bulb like most Fords.

you also have to get different headlight housings. try www.mrbodykit.com ,they have some different ones, kinda pricey, but i'd do it if I had the extra cash. and there have been some discussions in the past on this, I'd do a search. good luck, post pics if you do it. currently my driving lights are brighter than my silverstars, looks weird.

they do make dual beam kits, they are more expensive but are available.

maybe on a fox but not on a newer stang. I just pick up a kit and it is plug in and play.

yeah but why would you need high beams when you have bright ass mfing lights all the time, hah. im going to do it, its just a matter of finding the right parts. and ill post pics...this should happen within a month.

There is a kit with high beam functionality out now, but the downside to high beams with HID setups is that turning the ballasts and bulbs on and off frequently, as would be the case with high beams, significanly shortens their life. But as peter418 and Tommy98016 posted, you don't really need high beams with an HID setup, or at least I don't.

Look in this thread for some additional info: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=607082

Well I put HID in my cobra back when HID was first available in the Mark VIII and the new lexus.(projection style) It cost me a pretty penny, but they were the baddest around. I had to totally customize them to work. I sold the whole units after I got tired of them for about $300. I then bought the new projector style headlights and installed them on my car. Then i bought a set of mercedes HID and retro fitted them. They look kick ass w/ the projection. Only problem is the projector headlights they sell for the mustangs don't fit perfect :(
Good luck!
