dyno results

I think something is up with the MAF. Is it calibrated for 30lb injectors? Who makes it? If you have to run 50psi to get a decent A/F ratio with 30lb injectors somethings going on with the duty cycle of the injectors. Have you thought about getting a tune?

Your car should be making quite a bit more than that, my engine makes more than that with thumper heads, speed density, and 19lb injectors.

how much more? and what kind of dyno was it one? thanks

ok, the 19s wouild be border line. I would swap them out for a set of 24s and matching 75mm MAF. if anything, i would get rid of that intake and get an RPM, the cobra is prolly holding you back, even ported. The RPM would be a better choice to match those heads and would prolly make more power than your that crazy low 4600rpms!

302rollinhard: these parts are hardly "big" by todays standards!!!!

the car made peak hp at 5,250 but that is still low. cant see buying new injectors for the money. my maf is pro-m 1 year old (calibrated for 30's). the car runs great just low hp #'s. hasn't been nice enough for the track in indiana. all comments greatly appreciated. thanx.

personally, i would suggest getting a used personal tuner (PMS, tweecer) and find out what is actully going on. I woiuld have expected to see numbers in the very high 200s or even the 300 mark.

The tune really sounds odd to me. I have never seen aluminum heads like so little timing. Seems most like 15-18*. I know my Edelbrock like 17-19.

Fuel pressure sounds off the charts.

Cant say if its hurting or not, but thats a big cam for those parts.

Wow, I'm running a very similar combo. DSS 306 Bullet, Twisted wedge heads, GT-40 intake, B-cam, 19lb injectors, and all other boltons. My car dyno'd at 265hp/266tq to the wheels, and my car was running rich w/ the 19lb stockers at 40 pounds of fuel pressure and 190lph pump. My motor has about 40k on in, and its wierd, because my torque curve is no existant. It is completely flat from about 2g till 4.5 g, w/ no peak, which the dyno guy couldn't figure out. Anyways, mine was running rich, stock computer, exhaust leak(header gasket), and burns a little oil, only rev it 5500 on the dyno (my car redlines just shy of 7g's)and it still make more power than yours. I think you just have a horribly mismatch combo. The first thing I would do is drop the 30's and get 19's or even 24s. Then get rid of your cobra intake(they suck), just like my gt-40 intake which chokes the hell outta my motor. I'm switching to a TFS track heat, and a stage 2 cam. With these changes, along w/ new rings, I should be in the 290-300 hp range. You just need to better plan out your combo.

With thoes heads and that cam that motor should pull right to the rev limiter... my car without the blower made 265hp and 290 lb/ft with the hp still climbing at 6000 rpm's try some 24 pounders and see what happens.

Also are you using the right spark plugs? I ask because when i bought my car i rove it for like a year and i thought it ran great, then i took it to the dyno where the tuner informed me that i had the wrong plugs in the car... and i had no idea, he didnt even make a pass without swapping those out and it felt like a new car after that

Get a new tuner and get it redone. The 30lbs units should be fine. All of the injector ramp and timing is done on your ECM. Their is no need for the fuel pressure to be set that high with the 30lb units. So get a tuner from a different shop that is known and good with the foxes N/A.

What about the valvesprings, how old are they? are they rated for the lift/RPM range of the X cam? Looks to me like maybe your valves are floating and/or that cam is slighty too big for your heads and intake.
Also, I just put 30#'s on my car (from 19's) when I put my cam in, runs a helluva lot better now, minus the surging of course... I would estimate my peak HP around 6000 rpms after running the engine up out on some country roads around here. BTW, heres my top-end setup: 1 5/8 LT's, portmatched&polished runners Typhoon, TFS 1 cam, stage 1 ported TW heads.

Definately get rid of the 30's, go 24's, get your MAF calibrated for it. We know the Cobra intake is choking you some, but you should still have more horse than that. I.E. Paul Perreca on here has a similar combo with same heads except with the e303 and 24lbers and pushes 300. Im sure the cam is a little mismatched and is totally up to you if you want to go custom or I would suggest TFS stage 1. Second, Fuel pressure for those 30's are insanely too high. That FP is too high for even 24's. Let us know what you want to do...
