I want to have fog lights work indepedently.

If you have a coupe, you basically have to cut the red wire off the switch, cap it, then cut the purple wire off the vert harness and splice it to the red wire on the switch.

exactly. check out that link about. it's very simple to do--hard to work w/ such little slack in the wiring, but very do-able.

ok consider it done,I was really surprised just how well the fog lights worked on the stang ..my z28 fog lights were pretty useless.
Mine were useless with some silverstars, but OEM bulbs are actually visible on the road.

So if you have a vert im assuming instead of cutting the purple wire you just splice into it?

You guys are lucky - my fogs are totally useless. I even wonder if their vacuousness sucks away light from the headlights. :D

No. In factory form, you have to turn your headlights on AND flip the fog light switch. They don't just come on if you turn the headlights on.

The modification mentioned above allows you to turn the fogs on with OR without the headlights on.

Wait a minute...When you guys turn your headlights on..the fog lights come on automatically??? if thats true the previous owner must have already rewired mine. unless it is different on 94 cobras:shrug:
In stock form, normally the fogs cannot be on unless the headlights are on too (because some locales dont allow fogs to be on w/o headlights). So the headlights have to be on, and the fog light switch has to be turned on.

Ok so someone already messed with mine b/c I can JUST have the fogs on without the headlights being on at all... Learn something new about my car everyday

Correct.

Justin - I didnt mean to be redundant; you beat me to the punch earlier. :nice:

I was going to do this a while ago but it slipped from my mind. I just went outside and did it in about 15 minutes. It really is very very simple. On my car it was the purple wire with the orange stripe that was the 12 volt lead on the convertible switch block.

Ive been Reading this thread all day.. And I cant get mine to wrok.. They worked stock wired.. Now I read on the post Above that the Lead from the vert switch was the purple with the orange wire.. So I wired that to the Red wire going into the Foglight switch, And still nothing.... Do i hook it up to the yellow wire to the switch?? Im soo confused..
