Parking Brake Cable Placement

I did a 5 lug 4 wheel disc brake conversion on my car several years ago and I never replaced my parking brake cables with the SN95 cables.

Now the guy who used to do my inspections has moved and I have to get the car inspected legitimately.

There is a bracket that needs to be rivetted o the underside of the car just behind the parking brake handle.

Matt90GT at one point posted a picture and the dimensions of where this bracket is to be placed. However, I can't search that far back into the threads anymore. Does anyone know where the bracket needs to be rivetted so that I can finally put the cables into the car?

Thanks.

Look up SummitRacing. Search for Ford Racing Brakes, click on Ford Racing Front and Rear Brakes, click on that and then scroll to bottom of the page and download the instructions. You will see on the pages 17-30 the instructions on the rear brake cable installations. It clearly states where to set the emergency handle.

This bracket is mounted to the underbody, the cable sheaths go through the holes and the cables are then connected to the handle.

I just don't know where the bracket is supposed to be mounted.

I just converted a '89 using a 95 GT rear and I just purchased the 3 cables from Summit which is about $25 cheaper than anyone else and converted the emergency brake handle and done. I am not sure what that is you have pictured.

It might be easier for you to buy the Ford Racing Cables insted of trying to rig those cables.

There is nothing hard about this. I just have to rivet that bracket to the car.
I know its been discussed before about where to mount this piece.

This should be the exact same set up that the SN95 cars have.

Email Matt90GT - he's still around, his web site, http://www.svo73mm.cjb.net/ is still up. I haven't seen him here on Stangnet for a long time.

You are probably going to have to drop the driveshaft to drill the holes for the bracket for the cables.

Yeah I noticed that Matt hadn't been around. I've been searching through his website looking for the instructions. I guess I will email him.

I believe that bracket also came on 93 Mustangs.
