Paint Expensive

I paint at a Ford dealership. $1500 is about right for an all over Mustang job. That's with top quality paint also. Body/Paint departments at dealerships are just about the same as any independent shop. Now, the service department....that's another story ($80 an hour).

I wanted to have my front and rear bumpers painted because the paint is having some funky reaction and its all pitted looking. They wanted $750.
is it still under warranty? you might have gotten a better one than i did. i got lucky, my rear quarter started flaking and ford repainted it for free...

that seems madddd cheap i dont know about that

the whole car?

but if you change color you have to thinkg about door jambs and under the hood stuff like that

I am going to go to a local Ford dealer and get an estimate. If it's $1500 I will do it this fall. I bet they will jack the price up because it is purple, I dont know though:shrug:

$750 sounds about right for the hood if they are blending the tops of the fenders and re-clearcoating all of the fenders for a metallic 2-stage paint job. The quote for my Mach 1 hood was $700... i saved a little bit by delivering the car without the badges, front bumper or headlights on.... those pieces have to be removed to have the clearcoat go around the edges of the fender as to not have visible tape lines around the edges.

a ford dealer ( al packer) repainted my friends cobra and it was horrible...orange peel everywhere..paint nibs all over..and some dull spots..far from semi-perfect..anyways I have a guy that will paint most cars for $2200-$3200..best in the business...all basf & glasurit products

Typical estimate for a Mustang convertible: (no 3 stage or mystic paint)

$40 an hour at 25 hrs = $1000 Labor
$23 an hour at 25 hrs = $ 575 Paint/Materials

Granted this is just painting. No dents fixed or any body work of any kind. I remember we painted a fox body LX coupe all over for $1200 once...even blacked out his mouldings.

Thats pretty good. How much does it usually cost to pop out a few small dings?

Well if you are just looking to do a little touch up paint, get some Langka if you are worried about dobbing too much. Let the touch-up paint dry for a few days and Use Langka to even things out. Worked for me so far... although I do need to get my front bumper repainted :(
