heres the deal, i got a hotrodded out olds, ive had the past 3 years bought it my sr. year in highschool poored my soul into it, whole drive train is now race oriented, my parents bought the lil sis a 67 stang, she bein a whiny brat she is backed out, so now i got a free 67 280 stang, needs paint job and some help, mechanically sound and rust free though. so im gonna take it with me to college in august as its much more practical to drive. heres my lil scheme, carbon fiber hood, 18" black 5 spoke rims, lower it down, and a really low profile black or if possible, carbon fiber spoiler, like whats on the new mustangs sorta, long flat sits on two pedestals, angles down on the end, all of this laid against a bright yellow paint job. next year sometime maybe find a rolled over cobra and do a drive train swap, thankfully the dad is cool wit payin for the paintjob, so even though im leavin for college in the august im not totally screwed as far as getitn this done by next summer. plus ive got a decent job lined up there as a crew chief doin land surveying. sooo... here it is.. i got a question for ya'll, does anyone make a carbon fiber hood, is there a place that will do a custom one..?? also any input on this scheme itself would be more then welcome, its a notch back btw

As for your plans for the car, I think a yellow paint job with black rims and possible carbon fiber hood/spoiler would look pretty sick. photoshop anyone? also, post up some pics of that Olds!

mustangs plus can do it but I have never seeen their quality work. No one really produces them. With carbon fiber in a huge shortage, be prepaired to spend some big money on a hood.

I belive Maier Racing makes the CF hood that MP carries. You can get it for less at Mustang Depot. I looked into it for the weight savings but was told it was really made for race only cars. The standard version is designed to be pinned on all four corners. No hinge mounts and no latch mounts. In this configuration it weighs about 12lbs. The fit and finish are race quality and if you are looking for the "carbon fiber" look it's not there. The finish is closer to the gel coat on a fiberglass hood. In the end I went with fiberglass because it just wasn't worth it to me to spend an additional $200 to save a few pounds when it wasn't going to look good.

im not concerned at all wit weight reduction, **** ill take a lead hood covered in carbon fiber if i could find one, i just wnat the look, the effect of carbon fiber meshing wit a yellow paintjob looks friiggin sick on rx7's and the like, so i im sure itll look even better on some american iron
ill work on gettin pictures on her of it now, and my olds. the olds is a 72 supreme, now has a 3.73 posi, 700r4 AOD trans fully race ready, shifts hard as hell under throttle, smoke show hittin 2nd gearhaha, and a Big block olds 455, 230/236 522/544 cam. blowin thru some flowmasters, ive nvr cared for mustangs to be totally honest, but its a free car when i need one, and i think this lil scheme of mine will look stunning, and its nice to do car that has some d*amn aftermarket support finally...

Try finding a painter that can paint on a carbon fiber look. I've seen some pretty convincing fake carbon fiber stuff done by talented painters. Basically, they paint your hood dark gray, then stretch cloth over the gray base paint, then paint it black. then pull off the cloth and clear the whole thing. I know it doesn't sound like it should work, but it looks very much like real carbon fiber when done right. It won't be cheap though...

I've been trying to find a CF hood for my 67 for a long time.Matter of fact i've been looking any kind of CF ,parts with no luck.

I have a carbon fiber graphic on the taillight panel of my Mustang. Looks great, and it's easy to apply. You get the look without the cost. It's available online. Check it out at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2346195
You can get carbon fiber cloth on ebay for about $50 a yard. I think you will need just nder 2 yards or something like that, measure for yourself. Lay the cloth over your hood, epoxy resin, clearcoat, and you have the carbon fiber hood look.

If hes doing a full carbon hood, he needs something like 10 yards to do it. If hes doing a fiberglass based hood with cf on top, then 2 will probably suffice. Or he could do 4 yards and a 3/8" nomex honeycomb
