Anyone heard of the MGW "Race" handle?

Well I ordered my MGW shifter last week. They called me back later that day and told me it would be at least a week before they had any of the orange handles ready. She said that they have a "race" handle that is 1/2 inch shorter in length and height (same shifter base). So I told them to send me that instead. Anybody else have this handle? What do you think about it? Thanks.

It's just a shortened orange handle. I beleive it's aluminum in color.

It's much like the way the blue handle was a shortened version of the red handle.

That makes 4 handles for the MGW available

its probably the old style blue "sportsman" shifter that I have. Before they made the one style Orange handle. They used to have 2 types to choose from. Blue/Sportsman and Red/Cruiser (i think was the name)??

It's like the blue, but it's also angled back towards the driver like the orange was.

The race handle is to the orange handle what the blue handle was to the red handle

If that makes any sense

Yeah that makes sense. But I thought the Orange was a compromise between the red and the blue? So this new one is more like the blue and slightly less than the Orange?

Guess they are trying to fine tune their handles. I still love my red handle. Fit's me perfectly for cruising or slamming gears.

The orange is more of a compromise, but this new handle is basically a shorter version of the orange. By shorter, i mean the distance from the knob to center of the shifter is shorter than the orange like the blue is shorter than the red.

I never liked the orange handle. I have a red handle and love it. I tried an orange and didn't like how the knob was swept backwards to me. I like the more stright up and down positioning.

till trying to find a blue handle on Ebay

1st two pics were with car in nuetral. The last pic is with the car in reverse.
I noticed yesterday that if I have a large cup in the front cupholder, there is still about 1 1/2 - 2 inches of room between the handle and the cup. With the stock shifter, it would barely touch the cup!

Ughhh prolly gonna be calling them again.

haha you are just like me. I don't even remember how many shifter knobs I bought after I have my steeda tri-x. Right now I have UPR black pistol grip.

Do you guys think MGD is 100 time better then tri-x ? If so then I might have to get one, damn there goes $ 200

I have noticed that since the install of the MGW shifter, I no longer have a grind going into 2nd and 3rd when my car is cold. With the stock shifter it would grind a little until it warmed up or the tranny fluid finally circulated through.:nice:
