So on a 100 shot without power shifting I should be fine. The car has a Ram clutch and pro5.0 shifter to help out a little. Also launching to hard is a nono. Like I said the car shifts real nice with no grinding at all.
Many of you don’t seem to be grasping the weakness of the T-5's. It's not the syncro's…nor is it first gear. It isn't necessarily powershifting…although it does raise the risk of damage. With the use of nitrous, very large amounts of torque are introduced which is what will kill 3rd. You may get by for a day, a week or a year. One things for sure though…one day it will let go, so be expecting it. Many will tell you to ditch the T-5 while you can still get some cash for it.
I have had 6 t-5's in my car. I never had one break at the track always on the street when i wasn't beating on it. But i bet the reason they let go was because of the fact i run them hard at the track with my 150 shot of juice.
Yes the T-5 is weak and as stated, anything will break given the right circumstances. I also had this same output shaft breakage with a tremec. Launching at 5000rpm, 10" slicks, southsides, 3.73's.
