I started noticing "steam" coming out of my hood, (this is after I had been driving around for a while so the engine was around its normal operating temp) I have been searching for the cause and I have finally found it, coolant is seeping out of the thermostat housing where the metal elbow connects and runs to the coolant resivoir. I have tried running liquid glass through it, I have used liquid gasket and nothing will stop this leek. Is there anything I can do to fix this without replacing my entire intake manifold(money is extremly tight) ??? Thanks alot for any input!!

sounds like a cracked intake at the coolant cross-over, very common problem, now a few ?'s

what model, make and year? does your intake have the plastic or aluminum cross-over?

Sorry, Its 99 GT It was recalled before I bought it and the previous owner did not replace it so to answer your question its plastic. As for it being cracked It dosent appear to be cracked (yet). It appears to be leaking from in between the elbow and the very top of the housing. I think I am going to check on a new seal that goes on top of the thermostat tomorrow.

ok, try the O-ring. now Im not wishing you any bad "mojo" but I'll bet its the intake.
you can also buy some coolant system dye at a dealer or parts store to add to the coolant which may help in locating the problem:nice: (this dye may require the use of a black light).

we do, but att Ford is phasing-out most of the pre-painted ones. so what most are getting/ording is white and having them painted and prices on them start at @$300.00 + shipping
