Thats a good point, I hadn't thought about flipping them when I was hacking-away at it, but I might just get new ones and install them backwards, since the old ones look like crap :notnice:

That's what I'm doing... going to hang on to the old ones for "fitment" then if they work with the slicks, buy some new ones. If not, I'll be looking for alternatives. How's it handle without them?

To be honest, you would never know they're not there. There's maybe, MAYBE, maybe a little hair more vibration from axle wind-up when taking-off from a stop, but it could be just my imagination. The MM control arms will take care of that anyways, shortly hopefully.

No more rubbing!

Well after driving the car for 3 days with the right rear tire rubbing occasionally, I decided to take action.

Oh, there will be plenty of pic-whoaring in the near future. I tried some dusk shots the other night but they turned-out blurry as hell. I really need to get a tripod for my camera asap. I also ordered some Klass all-in-one as well as their sealer/glaze from www.eshine.ca, which I'll apply as soon as it gets warm enough. Because as we all know, a 'stang can never be too shiny

The rest of the new parts are still sitting in the garage since I don't have enough time during the weeknights to install anything, but saturday I plan to at least get the headers on. Then if time permits, the DS and MGW shifter.

DS and MGW should take no more than an hour, combined...and unless you have a shortshifter on there now...I'd be getting the MGW on their ASAP!

You're probably right. Maybe I'll try to get the DS and shifter on tonight after work
Hopefully the bolts aren't too much of a whoar, I'm deffinetly torching them first and doing the 'ol double-wrench methode.

the driveshaft bolts were a complete bitch until I got my method down. Place the wrench on each bolt so that it is pointing to about 7 oclock. then from the passenger side, lay down infront of the rear tire and brace your leg on the wrench. You should be able to apply enough pressure to move the bolt. if not, use short, controlled kicks and they will come off. worked like a charm for me...after an hour of trying with my feeble hands/arms

Update

Well got alot done yesterday.
We had the old driveshaft out and the new one on in a matter of 15 minutes, the bolts came out like butter with the help of a torch. Next thing was the shifter, we had that installed within 30 minutes, the most annoying part was getting the lower rubber boot to line-up with the 4 bolt holes over the new shifter, since its pushed up higher over the MGW. Below is the only pic that was taken yesterday.

The next matter of business was to tackle the LCA's once again. We tried bashing on the pass. side axle-side bolt again, and gave up and decided to try the driver's side instead. The bolt did not want to slide-out on that side either, but after about an hour and a half we finally had the new MM LCA in the driver's side bolted-up. After this there was only about 50 minutes left before the shop closed (we were working on the hoist) so had to put everything back together and clean-up. I think we can get the other one done on Tuesday night, now that we have our methode down. As for the uppers, we'll get those done some other time this week I hope.

I now know the true meaning of NVH first-hand. The shifter isn't too loud but is certainly much louder than stock. It feels superb though, perfect engagement and it guides itself perfectly into 3rd. I love it so far!
As for the rear end, well theres alot more noise transmitted through the chassis with the spherical rod bushings on the MM LCA. I haven't taken it through any twisties yet since the suspension is kind of mismatched at the moment, but as soon as its all together I'll test it out more. Also, the new DS fixed the harsh vibration I had at over 80mph, its all smooth now :nice:

I'll get some under-boddy pics once all the suspension work is done. Happy times :nice:

Oh, and I tried to put the quad shocks on backwards, but they interfere with the vertical shocks. So no can do, they're going in the scrap parts pile. I don't notice any difference without them anyways.
