Another brake issue!

My brake lights recently went out on my '70 fastback. They do not appear to connected to any fuses and the tail lights and blinker lights work fine. The hazard lights work in the front but not the rear. From what I can see there should be no other culprit than the switch on the pedal. Does this sound right?

What is the best way to test the switch before removing it?

generally when a brake light switch goes bad the brake lights stay on all the time, at least that has been my experience with them anyway. only once have i had them not come one at all and the turn signal switch was the culprit. still though a $5 brake light switch is the cheaper alternative and it certainly won't hurt anything to replace it.

Yeah, I figure I'll start there and if that doesn't solve the problem then I'll replace the turn signal switch as well. That has been on the list anyway since the right turn signal won't cancel and the left won't stay on. I replaced the headlight switch this past year so I'm going under the assumption that that is fine but again, these switches are generally inexpensive.
