Car Alarm on classics

Ok i have a 1967 mustang. I want to get an alarm. I was thinking of getting one of the Viper ones. Unless you guys know any better ones. And they all say remote start and key less entry. Would that work on our cars?

I've never used that type of power window system, so I can't say how well those universal kits work. I have always used the Electric Life kits like these:

Everyone I've seen selling power window kits for Mustangs sells these kits, even if they claim they are their own. They work great a long as your tracks, rollers, etc. are in great shape. Basically, if your windows crank up and down smoothly and easily, the power conversion will work well. Otherwise, they lack the torque to get by tough spots reliably.

Viper/Python alarms work great. If you're doing keyles entry you'll need additional hardware of course.

I know a guy who repos cars. Your alarm is going to stop him how?

An alarm is going to slow somebody down but sure isn't gonna stop 'em.

I'm running a CrimeGuard (something like that) on mine and it seems to work ok. Havent had any problems with it and it's fairly programable.

alarms these days are worthless for security. A simple tow truck or flat bed and your car is gone and you wont hear anything. They should just sell a "convenience" bundle with remote start/remote windows/remote locks...

I have to dissagre with you.I have have installed a few on carb's engines and they work fine.You just set the crank time a little longer

any "theft deterrant systems" made by Smith & Wesson would work pretty good too. I've got their 9mm M&P model lol

I know it works but unless you have a REALLY reliable quick starting car...it doesnt work well. None of my buddies have cars that crank without a little tap of the gas pedal

I understand that a thief with a rollback can steal my car but if my car alarm allows me the time to grab my gun and stop him it would be cheap insurance. My car was stolen in 1981 in Houston Tx. and while we are lucky enought to buy it back from the ins. co. I would LOVE to get the chance to confront a would be thief. I have WAY too much blood, sweat, time & money invested to not put up a fight. If you never looked for your car in a parking lot for :10 only to discover it ripped off....take some advise from me, Buy a good alarm and install a kill switch at bear minimun.

Its the first thing that was installed on the car after we got the car back from the junk yard and that same switch is still under the dash. They used a crowbar and popped the trunk and went right thru the rear seat and hotwired it. When we got it back it was totally stripped but I cant imagine my life without that car.

Old school here; S&W Mdl 629-1 "Mountain Gun". Only six rounds, but would you rather have 10 347 strokers for your Mustang or 6 429SCJ's? Size (and control/aim) does matter

Already have a form of "lojack" in my truck. Works on VHF with a mini-GPS box, a 10 watt radio and a log-periodic antenna the looks amazingly like a rear-window defroster. Lo-jack was just some alarm company hiring RF engineers to copy and "make marketable" a Ham Radio "toy".

Fuel cutoff parts are already bought for my XR-7 (they were originally going in another vehicle); but something with unlock and remote start aren't out of the realm of possibility, if I ever manage to get everything done that I want. A basic tilt/jiggle switch alarm, properly adjusted, would do a good job of stirring up the dogs, who would then wake me up with all their barking.

I'm cranky when the dogs wake me up at 3:00 AM.........
