That almost looks like they bored the motor and didn't size the piston properly and it siezed.

Am I sure the block is alright? Well today I got to clean and inspect it in the day light, and found some very bad news. I found 2 hairline cracks in the #1 wall going all the way from the top to the bottom. Now Im very displeased, and dont know where to go from here. either buy a new short block (which I really dont have the money for at this time, and Im using my parents garage and need to get it out asap.). Or suck up my losses and part out the car to put towards a different car ( I have been wanting a 5 speed because the auto's just suck). I did find a used mid 80's ranger motor complete on craigslist that I could probably talk down to $150, but its carbed. So I would probably just use the bottom half, considering my head is nearly new. What is your guys opinion on what I should do? buy the engine and then sell it for a 5sp or part out/scrap everything besides my chrome cobra wheels? Need some help.

I have a complete 93 motor in my backyard you can have if you want to pay to have it shipped to you. The head will be different but I believe the bottom end is the same. The motor ran great when I had it in.
I am in Greenville SC, if you want check into shipping costs, if it's worth it to you it's yours.

Would any of these 2.5's work? I didnt know you could drop in a 2.5 without some good work. DISTORTION..Ill check on the shipping on that and get back to you, I actually might look in to that.

With you in Oregon I don't know how much it would be... But I'm sure you'll be happy with the motor if you decide to get it. I would like to see it go back into service as apposed to being trashed.

A few days ago I found a complete '89 engine (ready to bolt/plug in) on craigslist for $100, it even had a new alternator. It was only sitting for 3 days before I bought it and still had the oil in it. So I got it bolted in today and tomorrow I will be pluging it in and pluming it. I'll be sure to let yall know how it turns out. Crossing my fingers it runs, but the guy I bought it from said he just drove it home prior to riping it out and he said it ran great (He bought the car the same day he tore it out to do a 347ci swap). He drove it from Vancouver, Wash to se Portland, Or which is about a 30min trip. This should get me by until I can sell it. I am keeping my eye out for a 5 speed coupe that will be a good canidate for a turbo swap. I could just do a manual conversion on my car but I haven't really looked into how hard it is. Some say its a B!t(H and I've heard others say it's not too much work. I think it would just be easier and cheaper to find a 5 speed car though. What do you think?
