Just a quick question for all of you San Francisco Bay Area residents. I have a 2001 Bullitt and I am looking to lower it, do some polish work to the engine compartment, and a few other odds and ends. Does anyone have any recommendations for good shops that do good work in the San Francisco Bay Area?? I haven't really found a shop that I am happy with yet.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Apex Motorsports is decent. There is also Goodies Speedshop that a lot of people around here use, but the problem is labor will cost you an arm and a leg at either... they are both a little more into performance rather than asthetic paint/polishing/detailing.... apex is big on supercharging, tuning, suspension, brakes and nearly all other bolt ons.

I didnt know what polishing you're referring too...maybe as in port and polish? or more like polish some metal engine peices for appearance?

Thanks....

....for the replies everyone. I will look up Goodies and see what they are like. I have already contacted Apex, but they didn't overwhelm me with answering my questions. The person on the other end of the phone seemed a bit disinterested in my conversation.

:rlaugh: that would be chris... kinda a smartass-sounding guy?

I believe Goodies works on a lot of mustangs camaros and corvettes. They're a bit more friendly and a little more professional...in comparison, I cant complain about some of Apex's occasional bargains though.

Whatever you do, dont waste your time with Mustang Ranch. Ive heard nothing but complaints about them.

I go to speedfreaks in tracy for tuning. They guys there are all pretty cool. But i did hear that they lost an engine on the dyno a couple weeks ago.....

president of ca-mustangs lost his engine with their tune - IMHO they try to squeaze too much out to make the customer happy with numbers instead of with a reliable car. Plus i think they still aren't Cali certified to even work on other people's cars, unless they just recently did.

i suggest going to speedfreaks in tracy. they really know their stuff.

do NOT go to speedfreaks. they are mediocre tuners and continually push their customers cars for the sake of being able to say what numbers they can make, so basically your car will become their shop bitch/bragging bitch.

i could go more into detail but i wont, you could do a search and find more. theyve screwed many people over and the owner is a kid with money to burn, which means he generally doesnt know how things in the real world work, how to take care of customers, how to even listen to customers, etc.

just like everyone said, do not go to speadfreaks!!!! Most tuners will make you sign a waver to retune your car after speadfreaks touched it becasue of how dangerous the SF tune is. I have personally seen too many peoples cars been screwed up, and two that lost thier motors because of it.

Well ive had both of my mustangs there 03 cobra , 66 with a 347, both are runind better than ever my 03 had been tune by apex before speed freaks, and speed freaks is way better driver now also my wife expadition was tuned there 2 years ago and that one i told Ravi i want all he can give it and it get 5 more miles to the gallon and ive put 15,000 miles on it since then, they are good people and took good care of me then and still to this day my 66 was just in there for a bucnh of bolt ons a a tune, i would highly recamend Speed Freaks. If anyone has any doubt or questions you should just call and talk to Ravi, or i belive steve over there can help too.......

Thanks for totally raping the English language there.

I'd rather have a decent and safe tune done by a competent tuner than let the hackjobs at SpeedFreaks touch any of my cars.

Sounds to me like your the only hack job everyone has there opinion on things i thnk they are awsome I went over to the other mustang site where the owners motor blew up and seams as if some people need to learn about how things work in side of engines, im not hear to argue with you but i think if anyone goes to speed freaks they will be happy ...

yes, everyone has an opinions - like yours being one for SF's and all the others against it. As for me i take someone saying they like thier tune with less bearing than someone who knows cars saying they suspect their tune for the death of their engine; since you cant actually look inside your eninge to see if the tune is doing harm, while he can cuz it's in pieces. This is especially so when the company isnt or hasn't been certified by the state to work on cars in the first place.
