Hello,

I currently own a 2005 wrx sti and i always loved the convertible saleens. I live in montreal canada nd as you know tthese cars are very hard to come by. I just wanted to know if this is a real authentic saleen. From what i can see it does not have the saleen big brakes kit, nor the interior seats and gauges. Please if someone could help me to find out what to look for.

here is the link, dont mind the french lol:

There was a fake (though expensively built) Beryllium Speedster that was created by a local guy in Irvine and this car makes me suspect, especially with the S281 badge on the firewall.

He sold it a while back.

00-448 (assuming that's the Saleen production number and I may be wrong as it may be entirely the dealer's number) according to The Saleen Book reports back as a convertible, supercharged, chrome wheels, leather, black top, and originally delivered to Texas it then went on to Florida (at least as of the book's registry printing in 2003).

Get the full Ford VIN and contact Janice at Team Saleen: janice.anene(nospam)@saleen.com and she'll confirm equipment and authenticity.

Remove the (nospam) text above before sending.

Looks fake. The "S281" side badges weren't available until the builds were into 2002 (pretty sure). Prior to that, it was the Mustang horse with the circle around it. The boost guages aren't factor Saleen guages (or at least, they aren't in the correct location). Plus, I don't think Saleen does a two-piece tonneau cover like the one pictured. As others have mentioned, the badge under the hood is clearly out of place.

Listen to Bart, et al. if you really want to confirm and call Saleen with the full VIN.
