im assuming it needs a clutch. 77,000 miles and the car is completely bone stock. im sure its probably the the one that came in it. i can rest my foot on the clutch pedal in neutral and hear a constant squeal/chip, lift my foot off and it stops . throwout bearing im guessing. the car shifts great, very smooth but when taking off it seems to want to vibrate ( clutch chatter? . i have a centerforce II in my 95 and i love it but it was pricey. i want a clutch that will not wear my leg out and thats no stiffer than stock. how about a king cobra kit?

that what I get.

You could look at any of the entry level clutches if you are just looking to keep the car stock. I have a Spec clutch and like it. King Cobra and Centerforce are two other good brands to look at. As far as the flywheel, you could just get it resurfaced too.

I just wonder how much for new flywheel cost ? if it cheap might as well get a new one.

i had a bad experience with a resurfaced flywheel. i think id rather just buy a new one. not sure which i need tho

if a 99 uses a 21lb , its $ 133.88
a 27lb is $251.95

both are ford racing and from summit. i just dont know which one i need

yup I just picked that one up for my 2000 this past friday. You said something about not wanted a stiff leg, well I would stay away from the king cobra. Everybody locally that has one told me that they are considerably stiffer than stock. Honestly I dont know what they ment by stiffer, but from the amount of peeps saying it was pretty stiff I stayed away from it. I did however orders a Findanza 1.0 clutch from americanmuscle. My car, aside from exhaust, and intake is prettyy much stock and will stay like that for a while.

ive heard that as well. but i dont understand why they advertise the pedel feel as 10-15% less/lighter than stock.

MY MISTAKE@! that flywheel will not work with your car because you need an 8 bolt, someone correct me if I am wrong. The reaons I got that one for mine i because it has an 03 engine in it, which uses a 6bolt flywheel. Save yourself some money and get this
Ford Racing M-7060-C46 - Ford Racing Clutch Kits - summitracing.com
It already comes with a flywheel and for that price! its a nice deal, wish I could have been able to get it
it says for cobras, but since u need an 8 bolt fly, it should work. Only reason I didnt get this was cause mine needed 6 bolt flywheel. either way good luck man, and yes the softer than stock pedal is most likely bs when it comes to the king cobra clutch.

The reason people say the kc they have is stiff is just like the e-bay seller said. its not a real ford kc clutch , its another brand thats equlivent in gripping power. And their always about 20-40 bucks cheaper, Ive been down this road. Go with a real "FORD KING COBRA" , youll love it. Do yourself a favor and call 3or4 ford dealers and ask for the part number, i say 3-4 because you still can get different #'s from a lazy parts guy. Now look in your mustang mags at all those other kc part #'s and compare. I put a real kc in my car bout 3 years ago , cant tell you its lighter than stock because my last one was a hard bs kc. As for the fly wheel i go with how you drive and how it looks, if you drive it hard and it looks like poo then replace , if its driven ok and looks ok leave it alone. If you feel it looks soso resurface it. But have this all planed out WELL BEFORE you or a shop tears into it, because(im speaking from experiance) you could have a car on stands or in the shop for a couple days. Good luck and don't learn a fairly expensive lesson the hard way , or even better "dude this is what all my friends think"

I recently had the stock clutch replaced (due to chattering) with a Centerforce Dual friction plus had the flywheel resurfaced and I absolutely love it.. Its very smooth with zero chatter.

Everything else on the car is stock at the moment, 2000 GT w/ 65k miles.

Im down with the Centerforce also...no change in street drivability, but a neck snapper at the track...its tough...

I put one in at the beginning of last year, dragged it for the season, this year, I put a TKO 600 in, so that clutch disk didnt fit with the spline, so I bought a new centerforce disk...when I took the other one out, it looked brand new, with alot....alot...of hard launches on it...I sold it and when the guy bought it he was happy he was getting a like new disk....

Now I absolutely recommend Centerforce Clutches...

i love my centerforce in my 95 but just didnt want to spend that kind of cash right now on the 99. its gonna stay mostly stock anyway. i called my local ford dealership and i can get a ford replacement clutch, pp, tob and pb for $253. i can also get a oem flywheel for $142. i think i may go this way that way i know how the pedel feel will be. i just hate to order a king cobra clutch ( or a suppose'ed kc clutch ) and be very unhappy.

just for kicks, anyone have a partnumber on a centerforce for a 99 just for price comparison?

what about Mcleod from maximum motorsports?? a few years ago thas all people would talk about. starting at $284
Price for centerforce dual friction $369.99 #cendf021057 (out of my 5.0 mustang mag)
Price for Ford king cobra #185.00 #m-7560-c302n from my 2007 Frod racing performance parts book.
