What do you think of this anti-theft device? Supposed to prevent 100% stealing

"WHAT HAPPENS IF A TOW TRUCK TRIES TO STEAL MY VEHICLE?
If you follow these 2 simple steps when you leave your vehicle, they can't:

1.) When you park your car, turn your wheels all the way to the left or right. 2.) Remove the Ravelco plug.

In the event a tow truck tries to steal your vehicle, the angle of the wheels will make your vehicle track in a big circle. This attracts attention . . . and no tow truck driver wants to tow a vehicle that is traveling alongside the truck, two lanes away."

That has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard.. Hell, if that worked no cars would ever be repo'd. The people who wrote that are either retards or incredibly naive. They'll pull that bitch out, hook the winch up to the front and drag it straight up.. If they have any issues with the tires gripping they just shoot some dish soap on the ground.

Ok first off your mustang has a transponder key. Unless the "theif" spends big money to get the transponder programmer car no start. By the way when I was the "EVIL REPO MAN" transponder programmers were 10k not a wise investment for most repo co. or theifs. Towing yeah park with wheels turned that'll stop them .... Yeah right grab and go you can play with boom height and get it to track straight enough. If it's a rollback once it's up i'm gone "so sorry try making your payments next time". In short nothing you do will prevent somone who really wants it from getting it. The best things are 1. don't draw any more attention than you have to IE no booming into your driveway. 2. LOCK THE CAR 3. try and keep it in a garage 4. if your worried about break ins get an alarm but don't get an autostarter (most bypass the transponder function then all a theif needs is the radio signal for auto start) 5. If you think it will get stolen get a tracking system.(is it really worth it you'll have to decide yourself) 6. Make your payments so it won't get repo'd.

Lojack is only in certain regions. Viper has a GPS/Cellular Tracking System that will tell you a bunch of info about your car. For more information, go to http://www.viper.com/security/viper/gps.asp. Here's a comparison chart:

I looked into this...they are not available for the moment. I'll take a GPS with geo-fence over anything.

If the thief wants the car he/she is going to get it. The more difficult you can make it the odds are he will look for the next simple fast score, that wont land him jailtime or death. Go with visual deterants. Lets say you seen two identical cars and on one of them the drivers window had an NRA sticker on it and a gun mag in the pax seat but the other car didnt which one would you steal? or car one had a big red bar across the steering wheel and the other didnt.... Why even invite them to sit in the drivers seat with these sneaky deterants? Maybe get a window sticker that says...

If you dont have the keys then you dont value your knees.

Something catchy.

I was taught how to "hotwire" a car at the age of 15. I used that knowledge once 15 years later when I was stranded and lost my keys in the middle of timbukto. I had the vehicle running within 10-15min...I know I know I wouldnt make it in the car thief world. The funny part was when I got home and couldnt shut the ignition off. Guess what, pulling the battery wires dont work..hahaha good ol altenator. I had to pull the fuel pump fuse.

I had my digital camera and took pictures of it all....but I dont want to hijack this thread. (no pun intended :)

Or get a weight sensitive pack of approx 1lb c4 that auto detonates when more than 120lbs gets in the vehicle or the vehicles tires leave the ground.......use a deactivation transmitter to deactivate it.
Or the flame thrower system too. But yeah either way your car will get damaged most likely (with or without a security system).

...you may have to disclose this tactic with the FAA first, filing a flight plan ect. lol!

No matter what anti theft device you put in, it involves modifying the OEM part of the vehicle somehow. And since that's the case, it also means its reversible. Most involve splicing in to wires, that could easily be spliced back together if the thief has half a brain. The first thing you look for is a control box, remove it, splice OEM wires back together, be on your way.

I like the flame thrower idea from a few posts back. I saw that once on the discovery channel in an experimental military vehicle. A nozzel comes out of the A pillar, and at the driver's command (or alarm systems command) flames shoot into the face of the carjacker. I dont care how tough you are, no animal on this earth likes hanging out in a fire. One surprise blast to the face, and I'm sure 99.99% of theifs will walk away, and stay away forever. That will work under the car too. So will a locomotive horn that blasts constantly as long as a tow chain is hooked up. The theif wont be able to bear the 120 decibles. Meaning he wont be able to get his chain off, and will just be stuck there attracting attention. Then again, he might have hearing protection in his truck. Better stick with the flames then.

Now I personally plan on getting lowjack, AND the viper gps tracker. Lowjack also has the early warning system, which is a gps tracker, and will notify you and/or the police if your car leaves a 2 mile radius, without a lowjack transponder card (similar to pats) near the car. I cant remember if it was a keyfob, or a credit card type thing. There's also the vehicle disabler to protect against carjackings. It uses the same type of transponder card. Only problem is there are greedy theifs who will take your car, and your wallet.

I think just being polite might work. Like leave a note saying "Dear Thief, please don't steal my car. I need it to go to work in the morning." That or just rig a Desert Eagle .50 cal. to blow the guys head of when he gets in the car. But that could get messy.

Pros will just put your front wheels on trolleys. It's the same thing tow drivers will do with AWD vehicles. The front tires MUST be off the ground to tow the vehicle if it is AWD. Putting trolleys under the front tires does not take long. About 5 minutes with a competent towing person.

kill switch

the old kill switch hooked to fuel kill switch or some other spots is still the best the boys are correct tow truck will take any car .... actually we are lucky the Mustang is not really even on the stolen car list ! Honda's Bmw & plenty others sure some hot rod bums will steal a Mustang to strip it but the real pro's have no intrest in Mustangs old or new ....the key system with the chip is not that easy to get by ....... :nice:

How easily is PATS to defeat??

Where I live, my car is relatively safe. It's sad, but as long as it's not a Honda, or Toyota or something the typical ricer crowd would want, i could leave it sitting with the keys in the ignition and nobody would touch it. I'm serious. Go buy an accord and ut a CAI on it and fancy rims and one day you'll come out to it sitting on blocks with the hood popped and the engine stripped. There just aren't many Mustangs where i live...nor people who care about them :(

In fact, i made the mistake of parking in a bad neighborhood one day to find the Hondas parked in front and behind me had their windows smashed and radios stolen...and my Mustang untouched. Guess nobody wants a Mach 460 radio. :(

My assumption is without the transponder key, nobody can start my car up. A pro probably could with some fancy electronic wizardry, but to the average joyrider, a Mustang isn't the easiest thing to steal I would imagine. I can't imagine professional theives that steal cars for export to other countries would waste their time with a Mustang GT, but i suppose once in a while they get a request. I don't think there are many of them in MA though. I think Mexico is where a lot of cars get exported illegally, so i'd imagine southern states would be where thosre pros set up
