Did an Oil Change this morning with gumout/seafoam followed by some fresh Mobil 1. Picked up a K&N Oil Filter as well. Swapped out fluids, lubed up the seal on the new oil filter and tightened on - but not too tight. Turn on the car to drive my car down off the ramps and hear a loud SWOOOSH and watch my oil level gauge drop to zero in about half a second. Got the spill taken care of thanks to the help of a pressure washer and a few jugs of some great chemicals (trisodium phosphate and muriatic acid). Check out the underside of the car to see where the leak came from and the rubber gasket on the oil filter cracked and half had shot out and was hanging off to the side. Will NEVER purchase their oil filters again.

Is there a chance that the old rubber gasket was still on there from the old filter?

Either way, stick with Motorcraft.

I have k&N air filter on my 98gt,should I use another brand? man I THOUGHT Fram and K&N were the cream of the crop...if they are crap, what should I switch too?

Fram used to be pretty good. I used their filters all the time. Over the past 10 years or so their quality has gone downhill fast. I wouldn't use one now unless I had no choice.

Also, he (and me) are talking about the OIL filters not the air filters. You're K&N air filter is fine, just clean your MAF once in a while with some good electrical cleaner.
