Would save quite a bit of money. I just don't believe the time invested, depending on how fast you can tear off the heads, is worth the trouble of a few extra horsepower.
If you are going to spend time breaking the engine down, might as well get some better gains out of it.
i didn't realize 30+ rwhp was just a few. i went from 228 to 256 swapping to my thumpers from stock e7's, and it should/will be more once i get my a/f figured out.
like i said earlier, if you can afford to go aluminum definitely do it, otherwise porting your stock heads can and will net you more of a HP increase than swapping to untouched gt40's even. now porting a set of gt40's is a whole other deal. for the sake of this debate i'm referring to UNTOUCHED gt40's.
