Stolen 1990 Mustang GT - State College, PA

you got 4k and that car back and you don't think it was fair??

not trying to be mean, and i know you can't put a price tag on "sentimental value," but i don't think that car was worth that before it was taken, you made out pretty well, use that money to restore it how you want it or mod the living hell out of it

either way i'm glad to see you got it back :nice:

My biggest concern is the paint which really sucks now. They spray painted more or less the entire car so I'm not sure what I want to do about it. Paint would cost a minimum of 2 G's to put on the car and that wouldn't be the best job.

Thoughts?

well the way it looks now doesn't seem that anything happend and to get 4 grand thats a great thing. It actually looks better than other stangs I've seen riding around..Besides at least you gat it back with cash. I never saw my 88 vert and no money back.......when they stole it. The only thing I have is two sets of keys and the top cover that goes on the top when its down and can't even use that now on my 90 vert.Well how you plan to spend that 4gs?

I'm gonna start with the following:

- replace the burnt out clutch
- rear tires
- breaks all around
- mass air sensor & intake
- headers
- replace the fog lamps
- fix interior issues (dash, steering column, etc.)
- front fender

Not sure how much this is going to take out of my pocket but I'd assume I'm half way through my 4 G's. The other 2 G's might go into a ****ty paint job and then I'm not even close to the car that I started off with. . .

Ah! I've got it! Keep the $4k and give ME the car. :D

Really, though, as stated above, most people are never lucky enough to get their car back, OR to get a fair amount of money from insurance for it - you got BOTH. I'd be friggin' tickled pink just to get the car back, even if it was trashed, because ... well, even if work needs to be done, it's YOUR car, and it just feels so much better to get back that which is rightfully yours instead of someone paying you a chunk o' change to go buy someone else's car and have to start over the process of making it yours again. So ... like ... do the happy dance. Or something. And stuff. Um, yeah.

Spray paint is no biggie - sands off easily. Paint don't make it go fast, anyway. :D

And West Virginia inspection stickers when you said you took the car to the shop for its annual inspection? State College is no where near West Virginia. A more local town would be Chambersburg or Greencastle or even Pittsburg. So they stole your car, registered it (or put stolen plates on it) AND got it inspected for you through 09?
Something is fishy about this.

LOL @ the area code, stickers and plate.

Guys, REMEMBER, it was stolen and taken to WV, plated and stickered up! I have to get new plates on it and inspection redone for PA. So for all of those who don't believe my story, there is the proof, haha. I'm from State College, PA well known for Penn State; "a drinking town with a football problem!"

Bad lighting, camera phone, it's rainy . . .but you get the idea!

So it turns out I need a set of cats to pass inspection. I drove the car under the minimum annual mileage for emissions in PA so I didn't have to worry about it until now.

Does anyone have an extra set that would bolt up to a stock system that they'd be willing to "rent" to me? I'm just planning on putting them on to pass the "enhanced" inspection and then putting my H-Pipe back on. SO in essence, I would literally be interested in renting a set from anyone and giving them back.
