Air bags replace the springs, not the shocks.

The two verticle shocks are the suspension shocks. The two horizontal ones are axle movement dampeners which help control wheel hop during hard launches.

Any reason why you want to add air bags?

well the car is lowered and its a really ruff ride, and i was told that if i put air shocks on that it would soften up the ride a little.

for the axle movement dampeners when do those need to be replaced?

thanks steve

You should be able to install air shocks just fine without removing the quad shocks, and run the lines to an easy to get to place, but away from any moving parts.I think they only cost about $70.00 a pair (at least around here).I have a set on the Bird.Nice ride.I am assuming you mean air shocks, and not air bags...right?

If I were you, simply replace your stiff springs with something a little more plush. A lot of guys will put in a road race spring at all 4 corners which is cool, but if you daily drive your stang it can become tiresome pretty quick. Don't put in air shocks, airshocks are for vehicles that take on heavy loads in the rear so you add more air to compensate for the added weight OR 79' camaros or el caminos with jacked up rear ends lol. Air ride shocks are not too pricey, but all the supporting hardware is...regulators, air tanks, lines, fittings, install. It can easily approach $1000+ quickly. Get some softer springs and call it a day

The only good air bag equipment for a mustang is the air ride technologies.
But, it's expensive as hell. Air Suspension Specialists | Air Ride Technologies ? RideTech.com

Check out the mustang section, they have some pretty cool stuff, i think even including struts that eliminate the springs.

If your ride quality is an issue, you probably need some new shocks, isolators all the way around and maybe some springs.

I put the koni red adjustables on my car, and on the softest setting there it definitely rides better. I'm sure other brands work similarly.
