Well, the 88GT I have been talking about is in my garage and I have the title and bill of sale! I don't know how to explain it but it's like a wall just got torn down and a huge weight off my chest of a mistake I made years ago and constantly haunts me. That being tearing apart my 90 and trying to go all out selling off so many components and taking on too many projects at once.
At first $3500 seemed steep for a 21 year old car with 184K miles, and being an automatic GT when I wanted a manual transed LX. (I have a TKO500 with all the trimmings but didn't want the hastle) Well... I drove it, doesn't squeek, pop, click, and hardly rattles anywhere. One owner car, adult driven and maintence records going back to when it was bought new. Bone stock under the hood except he put in a K&N and the old mufflers got a hole in it so he put in some flowmasters. The car drives good, and had a good interior. Also, it had a "no option" so it has manual mirrors and manual windows. The power windows gave me hell on my 90 and you can feel the difference when opening and closing the door of a manual windowed fox. Very original, very stock, very solid car, well worth $3500.
The 85 speedo is tripping me out, kind of commic, just is. An auto and 2.73 gears reminds me of when I drove a semi. It pulls good and has that feel that only in a fox you feel but it can't even turn the tires over. It needs some things like striker bushings and door seals, but come on, it's old enough to buy Alchohol.
Anyways... I have a lot of parts to put on it, but for now I am just so enjoying this. I am so fortunate for my dream car to only be $3500, seriously. Nothing like a Foxbody. Sure I'll miss some things about my old car but I think I'm going to get over it pretty quick.
