I recently purchased a 2009 GT and love it. So my biggest ache right konw is what suspension to go with. Here's some questions...

1. Probably obvious but... what springs are in the Roush stangs?
2. What springs are used in the shelby's? Everyone that I have seen look really slammed in the front end and the camber looks off.

What I'd like to see is as many posts as possible with pics of different suspension setups. The goal for my stang for now is to do the suspension and run the factory 18's with staggered tire sizes. Maybe even use about a 5/8 or 7/8 inch wheel spacer.

So..... I will as to see those stangs fellas with info on your drop.
thank you for your time

ahh, suspension talk. I am game. If only more people I know would talk suspension...

Here is my stang, Steeda Dampers, Steeda Sport Springs, Steeda GT500 rear sway bar, and 1.25" wheel spacers in the back until I can get some 18x10 Deep Dish wheels.

The Roush cars have Roush springs, which are made for Roush by Eibach (I believe). This does not mean they are the same as the Eibach springs, it just means Roush has sense enough not to try and reinvent the wheel when it comes to manufacturing springs. They are made by Eibach to Roush specs.

The Shelby GT has the FRPP handling pack, and so has the FRPP K-springs. I think these are also made by Eibach to Ford's specs (again, this is hearsay that I am repeating).

When it comes to suspension, I think a lot of people overlook dampers. If your changing your spring, you should change your damper. A damper that is not calibrated to the spring, even just a bit, will be a pain. There is only a small tolerance between an underdamped, and over-damped system.

I have the eibachs in my car, and yes the front is slammed and it does appear that the camber is off. I have had my car aligned and everything is in spec, I have noticed this on many o mustang myself, but they are probably legit.

The adjustable D-Specs are fantastic as well.

On stock wheels. (for sale)

I'm currently running just StangSuspension springs (1.75" front/1.5" rear) on stock dampers. Using Steeda's HD upper strut mounts/adj camber plates and I've swapped out the rear LCAs for J&M and have a Steeda adj panhard bar (will be upgrading to BMR). I'll be getting a set of the FRPP dampers very soon and I'm thinking of getting the matching K Springs to go with them and ditch the current springs. I hate the fact that it will raise the front a little, BUT they will be a matched set AND I won't scrape nearly as often as I do now:D
Here are some pics of the above mentioned suspension setup on both the OEM 18" tires/wheels and staggered 18" setups.

Hey GreyDiesel... Thanks for the reply. I've have lingering interest with your setup. Do you have more pics at differnet angles?

I'm currently not running these wheels (which are for sale) but the front are 255/45X18 and the rear are 285/40X18. Suspension work done: Vogtland springs, Koni adjustable shocks, Eibach front and rear sway bars, BMR lower control arms, Techco Watt's link, Prothane motor mounts, CHE k-member brace with torque limiters and Coast 4 inch aluminum driveshaft. The car handles well!

Graypny! I recognize your car from other forums, and I think a youtube video. Nice ride, that color is very nice. +1 on the black bullitts. I am hoping to get those.. staggared with 18x10 Deep Dish rears. I had thought I would try and do something uncommon my aftermarket wheels, but you just cant beat the look of the black bullitts on a Mustang.

How do you like the techo watts link? I've seen them advertised but haven't heard any opinions of someone who has one.

sure thing, here are few from today while I was out running errands.

You have the steeda sport springs which give a 1" drop correct?
Was anything else done to make it lower?
Because that ride height looks perfect and I may consider getting the steedas..

I plan on getting rid of my sportlines pretty soon. I want to go to a full-coilover setup. Also will probably add Steeda sway bars.

Do you have any bigger pics of your car, maybe in different angles?
How's the fender gap?

Thanks man. Yup, these are the Steeda Sport Springs. I think the ride height reduction is 1.25" rear, and 1" front. I have had them on for about two months now, so I am guessing they have settled. I went with the Steeda's for performance reasons. Steeda, FRPP, and Roush are probably the top three suspension kits, performance wise. Of those three, Steeda is the least costly, so it was a no brainer. And I have to say, the ride is great, I'd love to drive an FRPP and Roush mustang to compare, but having not done that, I am in love with my Steeda suspension and think its the best of all three.

I like it. Techco has gone out of business but I don't think there is much to fail on the Watt's link so I'm not really concerned about parts. It's much better than a panhard bar and there is no lateral movement which is nice on hard cornering. I do alittle road racing non competitively and there was a big difference after I added it. I'm not sure that a watt's link is for everyone but my car is set up more for corner carving than drag racing and I like driving the local twisties fast.

Thanks for the compliment. :nice: I agree that black bullitts look good on our cars and I feel they go very well with the other black accents on my Mineral Grey.
