5.0 BADGE

I'm sure you could have a dealership do whatever you like to a mustang when you ordered one new. Like I stated earlier, the emblems are easy enough to take off. In the 20+ year history these cars now have, God only knows who did what with them if they're missing. Missing emblems, to me, are always a big warning sign when I go to look at a car. It can mean body panels were replaced or major body work was done. In my experience, body shops don't replace emblems unless you ask them to (and the provide them too).

Every 5.0L Mustang from 1979-1993 to leave the Ford Manufacturing site had a 5.0 emblem on the side...except 1993 Cobra and the 80-81 v8's (cuz they were 4.2L's)

Saleen took the emblems off...as i'm sure dealers and owners did too.

I believe that the 5.0 badge made it's debut on the 1982 Mustang GT's. I've seen FORD factory promo pictures of the 5.0 installed on some '79's but they never made it into the production runs. In '80 and '81, the 5.0 liter wasn't available and was replaced by the 4.2 liter 255 V-8. In '82, the 5.0 returned with the badges.
