Stangersite.com rebuilding turnaround time question

Mine took a few months last year but I was in no hurry as the engine is still out. I read he had health issues before xmas but was getting caught up going into the new year 2010.

He does first rate work at a very reasonable price, comes back looking new but he is 'old school' as I call it and works at his own pace for that quality/price.

You may call closer to 8am-9am CST in Tx. that's when I had the best luck catching him to answer the phone, from what I understand he has a shop/warehouse he works in and i've never been in a quiet one so it may be hard to hear the phone with machines going later in the day. I always left a brief message with my name/part, call back #, very nice to talk to when you do get him.

thanks
I sent him a letter yesterday since he does not answer or return phone calls or emails.
I cannot wait for two more months.

My engine is out now also, but I should be able to put it back in in two weeks.
Be easier to put in the box and shaft first.

Mine was about a 6 week turn around time (from the time he received till the time he shipped). I was a little upset as I had just emailed before sending the parts and asked how long it would take him and he told me "2 weeks". The said it was due to the ice storm and some family issues.

I must say tho, it was worth the wait. Parts came back looking beautiful and worked perfectly too.

Good news!
I heard from Randy today and my steering box has been evaluated and hopefully will be rebuilt within a couple of weeks.

In addition the parts are in excellent condition. :D

Warning!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This guy has had my steering box now for 9 weeks and it is still not back and I don't know when it is coming. I requested it be shipped back on March 11 rebuilt or not.

I strongly recommend that you do not use this vendor to fix your steering box if you want - it back when promised, phone calls and emails returned or any communications for that matter.

Randy is a nice fellow but he just cannot get the work done and has held my Mustang project hostage for over two months now.

Stay away! :nono:

Sparx, how did you make out?

Hi
I got the steering unit back from Randy a couple of weeks ago.
He is the nicest guy in the world. To be honest I have not gotten back to working on the car since I took up another project, but hope to get on it shortly.

He explained the steering box I sent was in great shape and it was almost like new and had to do very little to it. He fixed it for the quote $160.00 or so and shipped it back packed very well.

If he could state accurate turn around it would be more convenient for everyone. I have to say he is one heck of a nice fellow and does nice work.

Once I have it back in the car I will post here again.

Ouch. Looks like the turn around time has gotten worse instead of better. Too bad as like you said, he's a nice guy and does excellent work. Just wish he would be honest when you ask how long it will take.

Randy is a very knowledge person that has been overwelmed with work. Lost his help, and is trying very hard to accomplish the task of aiding others.

Can't say much more than that!
