depends how long it was driven with the blown gasket and if water made it thru the head unit. I blew two headgaskets with myne, but the car was driven for mabye 5 minutes combined with them being blown and it didnt hurt anything. But i cant see coolant being good for the bearings inside the charger

Yea but the vortech kit only puts out like 5psi this guy said he was running 12psi..Also he said their is a chip that comes with it i think its like a mass air flow he said its probably in the wheel well but he doesnt know if he has it are these chip expensive to get from paxton? He says he wants 1400 do u think thats a good deal?

A vortech kit is a pulley away from 12 psi. Also remember boost has more to do with it than just how the kit comes, a combo with great heads will always make less boost.
A chip for his car has nothing to do with a chip for your car.
$1400, no way. I'd rather have new stuff. $1000, maybe.

the novi is closer to a T-trim then an S-trim, bigger head unit. $1400 is a pretty screamin deal. If the blower is good i would jump on it quick, but definitly find out how long it was driven with a blown gasket.

From what ive seen, used novi's go for between 2000 and 2500. I paid 2400 for myne, used it for two years, and sold it for 2200 i think

You probably aren't going to be able to tell anything by looking at it.
Used Superchargers are a crapshoot.
You could get one that lasts forever or one that lasts 2 weeks.

PSI number depends on your setup.
I can tell you this, the vortech S kit is powerful enough to split a stock block with the right h/c/i.
What's the setup you are running now?

IMO, used is a last resort, the warranty means alot considering a rebuild starts at about $500 and goes up from there.

The novi 2000 is more powerful than an S, but if you aren't going to put the extra power to use and don't have a setup to take advantage of it, i don't see the point.

i tried to attach pics of the supecharger dont know if it worked but as far as my set up i have a 5.0 xxx block and changed all the internals i have a forged 4340 eagle crank keith black pistons and rods and gt40p heads with bigger valves just had them machined cost me $500 and aluminum rocker arms msd ignition cobra upper and lower intake and electric fan and 355 gears...so what do you think how much boost could i run on it? Oh and 42lb injectors and 255 fuel pump

are stock 302 blocks really that weak do they crack if you run 12 psi on a supercharger?

450rwhp is about where you should take it.
Ya, you can push it to 500rwhp even 525rwhp, but then you go into the borrowed time category.
A vortech SC kit with a few upgrades easily eclipses 450rwhp.
Expensive internals really don't change much when using a stock block.

I agree with crane, that looks to have come off a car that was driven hard.

also does anyone know about these main cap girdles i had seen them on summit racing website are these gonna strenghen the block at all or will it still crack if there was too much boost? i also seen a guy on ebay selling 302 blocks in nj that he reconditions and makes stronger this is his add.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................HERE IS AN AWSOME PRICE ON A COMPLETLY CNC MACHINED LATE MODEL SMALL BLOCK FORD 302 ENGINE BLOCK. YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER PRICE OR BETTER QUALITY FOR THIS BLOCK ANY WHERE! THIS BLOCK SAFTELY HANDLES 600-625 HP. WE HAVE CUSTOMERS RUNNUNG THIS BLOCK FOR OVER 2 SEASONS WITH NO BLOCK FAILURES. WHAT MAKES THIS BLOCK SO MUCH STRONGER THAN A STOCK 302 BLOCK IS THE BILLIT STEEL MAIN CAPS THAT SPAN FROM PAN RAIL TO PAN RAIL. THIS TIES AND STIFFENS THE COMPLETE BOTTOM END OF THE BLOCK. THIS BLOCK IS READY FOR ASSEMBLY WHEN YOU CUT THE SHRINK WRAP. Do you think its true?

Girdles do nothing. Basically just false advertising.

As far as how much boost, each setup is different.
Boost is pretty much just a measure of pressure. So the more free flowing your engine is, the less boost an SC is going to make.
