Need help with filling up.

I have an 07 GT with same problem. I went to the dealer and he said "put on slowest setting and only fill up when tank is less than 1/4 full."

I guess Ford doesn't understand that if they want to sell $40K cars, then owners should not be told that they can only fill up their gas tanks after they are 3/4 empty an on the slowest setting.

This this was dragged back up last week I thought I would add to it.
The 05 my nephew got a little over a month ago has this issue. I guess the original owner never took it in for the tsb.
Talked to a Ford dealer.. $1000 to replace the tank, parts and labor.
Not going to happen.

I have the same problem with my '06. So far, I've only found one gas station in my neighborhood that fills up every time 100%. Only 2 out of 5 stations I've used so far. What if I'm somewhere I've never been to and run low on gas, and the only station in the area won't fill up?

Would it help to have a gas can in the car at all times? What if I fill the gas can, then fill my car from the gas can? Will that work? Let me know if anyone tried it..

Take the Nozzle, turn it upside down and Bingo, it'll fill to the top.. Been doing it ever since I opened this Thread. lol.. You'll look goofy, but you won't fight it anymore. I've learned to just accept it, it's still worth drivin' my Stang :nice:

Does that work for you every time? I see it doesn't for some people.

I kinda tried at one pump, but I didn't really turn it upside down all the way, I think my wrist was hurting that time.. XD

Next time, I will go to the "bad" one and turn it completely upside down from the beginning and see if it will work for me!

That is just the funniest thing I've heard all week. Still amazes me Ford made something like this...

Gas pumps

I think I figured out what causes the fill problems on some cars. If the pump has a vapor vacume seal that covers the fill port, the tank will not fill completely. I just pull the seal back on one corner of the seal and they work fine.
Good luck.

I used to work at a Ford dealer and the filling issue was well known. Either you have a green advisor or he wants customer pay over a warranty pay commission. Ford has had a 3/36 bumper to bumper for years. Have them check OASIS to verify your warranty coverage and then get a new advisor. Yeah the upside down or sideways technique should work. If not then you'll have to drop 1k for a new tank.

So I finally did it. I drove to that one Shell station by my place which my Pony #2 (the previous one was named Pony, so I'm naming this one #2 dammit, #1 was a darn good car) refuses to fill up. I parked directly across the nozzle so I have a maximum hose length to twist it upside down.

I positioned the nozzle upside down, then started filling. Miraculously enough, it filled up. I was afraid it may not sensor when it's full, so I watched it as it filled. Just when I saw the gas filling up the top, it clicked and stopped like a normal filling of gas should happen.

Whoever discovered this method is a genius. LOL

Thanks guys.:hail2:
