drag racers....goals for 2011

We already know I would put yours into the 10s

That is the mentality that so many mustang owners have in their 8-9-10 second cars when they buy a vette. It doesn't work that way:D MN6 cars with the stock rear end are not easy to put in the 10's without z51 gearing. 60ft just sucks, even with power because 1st gear is so long. A fight between breaking the rear end, and bogging. C6Z06's leave harder and don't seem to break as much.

I'll have a 10 this weekend if I don't get kicked off first.

Thats the thing Mark..I won't be afraid to break the rear...I mean, you are rich and will just buy another.

I'm just going to buy shoe polish and write a fake dial-in on my car. I'm thinking about 10.97

:notnice:

I tore the entire radiator/intercooler support, the stock swaybar needs to be reset because it is completly hitting the k member, and a few other things that I have to fix this week. All from lowering the car and living on the worst road in Houston(now under construction). Not to mention it hurts my 60ft. Raising it back up 1/2 inch in the front. It didn't look good when I got under the car today at the shop.

Need to be able to break something in the rear and have it warrantied, like you.

Why not throw on that 75-100 shot and not run Friday, but come run Saturday at Lonestar? Most likely will be a bunch of singles running, and you can play with the tune. Gabe will install, or help you do that and the driveshaft. Why not go for 10's with the weather? I think you will be fine without a window switch on a small shot and we won't get kicked out? I might only make 1-2 passes Friday after the 1/8, and go all out, even though the track is slower on Sat. I want to make a couple single passes.

Realistic Goal this year 10.4s. Hoping for a mid 120s trap at least 125mph is what I want.

What I really want 9.70s at 135mph. Still trying to decide between larger KB and spray this year or a big turbo setup. Still not sure at the moment.

Fuggin GMs :nonono:

:( denied.

Can't wait for Mark (winters98gt) to post up his results from tonight

Had a good time tonight with Bruce(GT40XSTANG). Added a clutch this week that I can finally launch the car on. Also added an Alky kit. Launched at about 2800rpm and got in a good run. They gave me the boot on 1 pass and wouldn't let me go again. I was going to work my way up to 4k over the next 2 passes, and hopefully would have gotten a high 1.6 60 foot and maybe a 10.4. Officials were having none of it.

Mods are A&A vortech kit, alky, mufflers.

Next up is exhuast and probably a ZR1 or stock sounding cam. I'd like to see how close to 9's I can get on the stock car.

My first goal this year is to make a pass!

I broke a piston on my last pass of the 2010 season when I ran a 11.76 at 117, so ...

New MMR750 shortblock (being built as we speak)
upgraded MAF
60 pound injectors (currently 39 pounders)
Cobra tank with twin pumps (currently SVT Focus)
maybe a little more boost (currently at 10PSI)
air-to-air intercooler
new tune

Current setup:

2004 Mustang GT/5-speed/Vortech V3 non-intercooled/Comp 262AH cams/suspension stuff/Mickeys/Welds/4.10s/roughly stock weight/415rwhp/373rwtq

Hoping to run 11.50 every time at over 120MPH
Don't want to cage mine either right now

Dang Mark, that is amazing! :nice:

Thanks, Will. Car pulls like a raped ape on the freeway. I bet it has a 137-138mph in it right now. I'll post new times when I add exhaust and a baby cam. My buddy just went 9.75 in his 08 car with the stock block/suspension yesterday in Dallas with a similar setup, but auto and exhaust(+3psi).

Yea, if you could really launch it, I would definitely bet it has 9s in it as it sits. I've got a buddy running 6.4s in the 1/8 with a 105 mph trap. If you could knock 6 tenths off your 1/8 mile ET via the launch, there's a 9 second pass. But we all know how GM rear ends are....:D Any plans to upgrade that any time soon?

Car is definitely impressive, man. Mid 10s, all the while driven to and from the track. That's the kind of car I like to see racing. :nice:

10's

Hope to break into the 10's [ 11.6/124mph ]. Improved 60 foot time will do it. Plus I'm going to take advantage of the little things [ 100 octane, ice water in the aftercooler resevoir, just installed electric exhaust cut-outs, inflate front tires to 40psi ] . Can't wait.:track:

Thanks, Will. I am thinking about leaving the differential stock right now. I need the Z51 gearing(optional tranny gearing) that most guys get, to help the 60ft out. Z51 cars leave about a tenth faster from what I have gathered. I am going to have to put exhaust on it, cause it blows out the stock cats and that is dangerous on the motor, and really need a cage before I do anything if I want to keep racing.

Getting the stang ready for some runs tomorrow.:nice:

Goal is to test 11lbs on the new clutch and see what it does, after that moving to 13lbs w/ 110, if all goes well moving to 14lbs with 110 and tune.
