As a follow-up to this, these are kind of the 2 routes I'm really leaning towards now...My question being, if I wanted to save some money and use it, will the Cobra intake flow enough for either/both of these combos? And do you think there'd be a big difference in streetability? I should add that I LOOVE low-end torque (my DD is a 850 lb/ft Cummins inline 6) and am not really interested in revving my engine up to 7k or so....
#1 - Keep it N/A and go stroker w/
-347/331 shortblock
- AFR 185 heads
#2 - Supercharge and go
- 306 shortblock
- Eddy E-street 170 heads
- Paxton sn2000 SC
Also, allow me to explain why I'm leaning towards the E-Street's if I go SC. While I know there are better, higher revving heads I could choose (AFR 165's or TW170's). Rebuilding the Paxton will be approx $1000 (with cooler and improved impeller) on top of the price of the new heads, so I'm looking at the Eddy's as a compromise of power/price since they will have the SC "helping" them along in the power dept. Also, the SC is the relatively low boost (6-8 psi) system and not really designed to be revved much past 5500-5700 RPM's which matches up with the E-street's recommendations.
Also, any ideas what kind of power I'd be looking at with these combos (and the other required supporting mods)? I know I saw somebody on here (can't remember who) posted they were making around 285 RWHP with the 306/Cobra/E-street combo, so I'm thinking throwing the 5-8 psi on top of that should keep things interesting....
