People who critique your car

I think what bothers me most about owning a '98 Mustang is being constantly asked if it's a 5.0, because when I say it has a 4.6L engine people seem disappointed. In fact, some have thought the 4.6 is a V-6 :nonono: f'n dummies

Wait, wait, wait.. I thought a 4.6 without the pi swap WAS a v-6? :D

i had a cop pull me over once because he said my car drew too much attention, i gave him my info and he let me go. Wtf kind of reason is that to pull someone over? I was almost late for the exam i was going to as well, i wasnt speeding or anything.

meh, neither PI nor NPI 4.6 V-8's can out perform many V-6's on the market today.

The point is, in 1996-1998 the NPI did provide decent performance with nearly 300 lb/ft of torque. I'm betting there weren't many stock V-6's at the time that could provide that much torque (if there were any at all ). The NPI was on par with the power of the 94-95 GT's 5.0 OHV engine in a much more refined package, yet people seem to think that stock for stock the 5.0 OHV > the 2V mod motor and they're wrong.

When it comes to a modded engine the aftermarket really wasn't/isn't there to support the OHC Ford engines very well either. Look at the myriad of cylinder head and intake manifold choices a OHV engine owner has (both for GM and Ford). Best case scenario for a N/A 2V is what like 340 RWHP and that means a high compression engine w/ TFS heads and intake, etc...

wow!:nutkick:

I kid, I kid..

Yea, I was bringing up the same ol pot of crap everyone gives 96-98 owners who haven't done the swap. In all fairness, everycar at its time in history was 'The best of the best'. Technology is always changing and even that Bugatti Veyron that someone has today, it might stay the top dog a little longer but there will always be bigger and better. All that matters is we enjoy our vheciles for what they are and they become a part of our lives:)

98Cobra281 has proven that the NPI heads, when ported correctly, can be a very potent combo. In fact, I bet there are few N/A PI headed cars that can come close to his dyno numbers or 1/4 mile times. Keep in mind he has the advantage of running a more agressive intake center line due to the NPI head's significant PTV clearance, and he also is running flat top pistons that increase his c/r. I doubt a PI running the edelbrock intake would be very streetable because of the sacrifice in low end torque. His car makes up for it with the aggressive ICL and slight bump in compression

yea yea yea.... this is the worst... you have the nicest car in the world. there is not a thing mechanically wrong with it, paint is mint, trim is mint, body work is mint, handles corners like nobodies business, the car has 1,000 horsepower, never understeers or oversteers, gets 100mpg, perfect safety, quiet and comfortable, car never gets dirty, and is a daily driver and weekend warrior. everything about the car is perfect..... there is no way everyone could not be jealous of the car.

but then the flaw is oh you have an automatic....

Seriously I have an automatic, leave me the hell alone!!!

I didn't know you had an auto... that's too bad :nono: :(

I'd love some suggestions. Like hey some smoked fog lights would be awesome.

But I'm surrounded by knuckleheads that know very little about cars. So I feel they do this to either act like they know about cars or out of jealousy. It's all about psychology; people will do anything to get in your head or make you feel worse and if your car is nice that their way to do so.

One summer night two of my buds were commenting on how small the back seat in my convertible is... Me and my girl drove with their two girlfriends in the back seat to the bar while the sausage duo rode in one of their trucks... :rlaugh:

Oh yeah... Thats even worse than the "Is it a 5.0". Cant blame them for this one tho... I've absolutely hated my auto for 10 years now... Explaining lower auto dyno numbers blows too.

Now I have a T3650, aluminum flywheel, aluminum driveshaft, RAM clutch, MGW shifter and 03 cobra pedal box sitting in the garage!

Whenever Im with friends they all like my car and tell me that its a schweet car... But when I got to the track and see mofos running 12's and low 13's I feel like its not worthy when I crack off my 14's with my crapy tires.. lol

Number one reason i don't do car shows anymore either. I would spend so much time cleaning and prepping only to have them see the minor issues like rock chips etc. I mean hell its a 70,000 mile car not a trailer queen. I mean think about the care it takes to make it look this good 12 years later. There are so few really great looking cars over 3-4 years old. Most people lose interest in about that much time, unless you are dedicated.
I also get the "bout time to trade up to a new one"....well if I was a millionaire I suppose, but no. Or I never really like this model Mustang....
Them:Is it a 5.0?
Me: No its a 4.6
Them: You mean its a V6?
Me: No assclown its a V8 with 260hp more than an old pushrod stock 5.0 ever had.
Them: Whatever.
Me: Whatever Dumbass!

You guys made me think of all the crap I've heard over the years.
:nice:

My friends love to piss me off when they see a car and claim it's faster than mine. My friend claims his mid 90s turbo cavalier he used to have is faster:bs:. I think I lost it when they thought my other friend's CV police interceptor, stock with 22's was quicker.

In fact, some have thought the 4.6 is a V-6 :nonono: f'n dummies

I've had this happen. A guy at work asked me if I had the 5.0, and I said no, it's a 4.6. He said "Ooooh", and the look on his face just screamed to me he thought it was a V-6. So then I told him it was putting out 340 horsepower ( I did'nt bother with RWHP numbers since he would have no clue what that meant anyway) and then he seemed to have more respect for it. I've only had 1 guy criticize my Mach. A punk kid was walking by as I was cleaning my Mach and he said "Nice car, too bad it's a Ford". I about bit my tongue off not saying a word because my sister was with me visiting from out of state, and I did'nt want to make a situation.

I have never had any bad comments about my car. Everyone that has said something to me has always liked it, even hardcore GM fans at the track. I mean people have said its too loud.

Most of the time I rip on my car for all the little flaws it has, such as paint chips and not having the right stance or suspension setup.

All the people I know think that my car is plenty fast when I give them rides, often times scaring them with my acceleration. They think I am a crazy when I tell them I am supercharging the car. IDK but I have to guess this stems from most people I know either drive trucks, or 4 cycl cars.
