I just installed a king cobra clutch made by southeast clutch not valco. After i started the car there was an obvious sound that something is hanging up inside the bell housing, i initially thought the pressure plate was hitting the starter, after pulling the starter there wasnt any marks on it. so put the starter back in, checked fork to make sure was on the pivot ball cause i thought that came off but wasnt it. Fired the car back up and it was still making the noise, crawled underneath the car while it was running and you can hear noise from the bell housing and the bottom of the bell housing started getting hot within 20 seconds. Any ideas on what would be causing this problem?

I pulled the dust cover off and the flywheel looks good. Bell housing isnt in bind. everything lined up and looks nice. Another guy said it sounded like it was the fork and came off the pivot ball. Which it was a little and i fixed that but it is still doing it. When i first started it after though it didnt do it right away and then it started making a clanking noise. Something is hitting the bell housing tho.

Well I would verify if that is your problem first, if it is the problem then just grind down the inside of the bell housing a little bit just where it is rubbing. You won't need to take off much just enough so it clears.

What year of stang? What year of bell housing? What size clutch kit?

And I think you meant Valeo, not Valco.

Rubbing in the bellhousing

Hi,

I know this is a old post but I was wondering if you solved this issue. I just replaced my clutch and I am having the same issue. The bottom of my bell is getting hot just after starting the car and I can hear a rubbing sound. I was just wondering what was your issue and how did you fix it? My car has a tremmec and is a 92. Thanks for you help.
