If they are 17x8 Cobra wheels, stick with 245-45-17. If they are 17X9 Cobra wheels, stick with 275-40R17. I'm not a fan of odd size tires on stock wheels.

IF you want to up a size I wouldn't go wider than a 255 on 8's and a 285 on 9's.

ok. i will measure rims tonight, i dont know size offhand- car is as bought.... but i do know it has 245-45-17 on it and the rims seem wider then the sidewalls of the tires. the sidewall isnt even with the rim edge, the tire kinda bulges out at the rim......

I've done a ton of research on tires as far as quality v. price and where the best prices are... Best I've found and most seem to agree, is the Nitto 555's and they are very reasonable from discounttiredirect.com. bought a couple sets from them with no issues, free shipping, and they usually run some sort of rebate deal.

so i used a tape measure- hooked inside of wheel and pulled thru to outside edge of wheel and it was 10". i will look at backside of wheel for imprinted size....

If your current tires are 245's than your wheel size is most likely 8" wide. I would get the same size tires that you have now if they fit well. As far as brand there are tons of great recommendations above. I currently have 555's and for a street car they work out great, last a long time, and have good bang for buck. If your car is mostly stock than the nitto 555's or some other similar summer tire would be perfect for you.

Why???

Just get 4 tires of the same type and dont mix and match.. That way you can rotate them.

Because im running 17x10.5's in the rear and 9's up front. If you don't want any power wasted on wheel spin, get NT05R's, they hook extremely well and are decent in rain. I used to spin all over the place when flooring it in the terminator, doesn't happen anymore, I can actually feel the g-force being made by the amount of torque being 100% put to the ground now.
