I just purchased a TKO600 and wanted some opinion on clutch choice. I have a limited budget but want the best bang for my buck. I want to stay away from the Motorsport units because the pedal pressure seems to be ridiculous.
I am looking at the following:

Spec Stage 2+ part #SF483HT
Spec Stage 4 part #SF484T
Centerforce Dual Friction part #DF161057
Ram HDX part#88794HD

Can anyone offer some advice on which of these is a better setup for my application? I am open to suggestions as well, but need to stay in the $350.00 range.

The car has a 306 with TRW Flat Tops, Trick Flow Heads and a Nitrous Express Wet kit. Should make somewhere around 360 horse without the spray.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
John

I had a Ram HDX that lasted about 1400 miles behind about 340FWHP. I currently run the Spec Stage II, not the +. I think it would work fine for your power level. I think the Stage IV would be way too much. A lot of guys like the dual friction, but I have no experience with it personally.

I know you said you wanted to stay away from motorsport, but I've ran a king cobra in my 90 and my 87(once it fires). I have a friend who's got it in his and his girl's car...he loves it, she thinks its a pita. A buddy of mine had a ram as well with no issues whatsoever, ofcourse he sold that car for a 91 auto so what does he know right? Its all personal preference. I'm not sure how a clutch only last 1400 miles though, that my friend sucks. I'd be pissed too

+ 1.....Don't discount the Ford units just yet. The Ford Racing "King Cobra" clutch has always been known for having a stock like pedal feel, with the added holding capacity. Should be just fine for your needs and won't break the bank.

Tell me more please, I have a RAM HDX Clutch Kit on the way in the mail right now and have not heard anything bad about them. End game for my GT is a mild gt40 setup

I purchased it after going back and forth trying to decide if I wanted it or a Spec. Got over 1000 miles on my car, took it to the track on street tires. After second pass the clutch wanted to lay on the floor. I limped back to the pits, checked my cable for slack, let it cool. Tried one more pass, no go. Got it home, but it slipped the whole way. When I took it out the disc was perfectly fine. It appeared that the pressure plate went bad. I downloaded the warranty form from Ram, but they don't warranty it after 30 days from purchase. The clutch sat in my garage for over two months while I built my motor.

I bought the Ram because I read a lot of good reviews. Not saying all of them are bad, just my experience. I've got over 2000 miles on the Spec now and still going strong. Again, I'm sure there are thousands of satisfied Ram owners out there.

I wouldn't go over a Spec Stage II. I over did it on mine and hated that damn Spec Stage III (chattered and heavy pedal). I'd get a ProMotion clutch kit. You pick out the HP rating and that's the one you get plus the pedal is just as light as a King Kobra, perfect.

Okay. So I decided to go with the Spec Stage 2+ It just arrived today. Just waiting on a few more items to show up, but I should be banging gears by next weekend. Review on the new trans and clutch to come. Thanks again for the advice guys.

Pedal pressure depends on what quadrant you are using also... Not just the clutch. My bro has a king cobra in his and my spec stage 2 is much easier to push in. Design of the quadrant matters
