I'm Sort Of Disgusted With Myself

Man its good to know I'm not alone. I cycle through this car, a classic, and new car every month but my current car always wins out.

It's something alot of us think about. We all love our cars (for me the most part) but there are aways bigger and better things out there. The car payment part is what I will hate but being that I haven't had one well ever I am ok with it.. All my other car's I have paid cash plus trade in. I've really considered the classic route too and that will be how I go if I can't get the exact car I want for the toy. Yes it will take longer and I will have to build it from the ground up but that will be rewarding 10 yrs from now when its done lol.

Ive toyed with the idea a lot too. Not going to do it though. Been looking at other cars like M3s and AMGs. No way I'll actually buy anything. I just REALLY like cars and cant help but shop/browse for them sometimes even when it makes zero sense to buy one.

Am I normal?

I check craigslist like 5 times a day and can't stop picking up the local used car classifieds books lol... I feel like Joe Dirt sometimes lol

I feel like Im in some kind of rehab group....

Hi, I'm Nightfire and I've contemplated selling my car.

I'll go ahead and admit that Im also in the same boat. I've thought about selling for a few months now. I love my car to death, but I occasionally get tired of it.

I'd LOVE a newer car. I frequently check the local LS2 GTO's and 05+ GT's.

My '06 GT has 118k miles on it, and I think about buying a '13 GT all the time. But I owe very little money on my '06, and it already has so many mods that I'd want to do to the '13. Plus, I race my cars pretty hard, so it's probably a better idea to beat on an older car and not a brand new one. I just can't justify dropping the cash on a new one. If I was rich, I would.

I bought my 2003 GT new back in June '03. 139,500 some-odd miles later and its still running like day one. She's gotten the routine maintenance, had a few minor upgrades, and has even been involved in some unfortunate wrecks. But nothing has stopped her! It's my daily driver even in the foul winter weather...lately I've been on LateModel Restoration's site looking at stuff to buy and stocking up the wish list there. I don't see this car leaving my possession any time soon. Its nice not having a car payment for sure. But I wouldn't mind a new GT to add to the stable...I definitely am hoping to pick up a 2014.

Mustangs have one of, if not the largest, aftermarket followings. That does not help our situation in any way, shape, or form.

Ya, it has the history and the legacy to go with it. Corvettes are too expensive that legacy..and the Camaro hasn't really been around as long. They even discontinued it in 2002 before bringing it back in the new style a few years later. But what you said comes with the territory I suppose lol

I thought about selling mine once in a rash moment. Wife talked me out of it. My car is on the low end of miles(34,xxx), and is in good shape. It never has been a daily, and never will. I will keep it for the rest of my life. Then it will be crushed and put in the ground next to me.

I've had it long enough, worked on it enough and hated it enough that I'm very close to the point of letting it go.

I want to get into something newer with less miles. Made the mistake of spending some time behind the wheel of my brother's EVO. Makes the Mustang look silly in every aspect except... sound. Keeping my eyes open for an 05-07ish GT, STi, EVO or a very select few other imports. Of course a 2011/12 would be ideal over all others, but I don't think I'm ready to sink that much money into a vehicle.

It's nice not having a car payment, but when you wonder how much longer your current car will last before it needs a new engine, trans, etc. it doesn't seem so bad. Once I fix my clutch, I'm sure it has plenty of life left but I'm flat out bored with it.

My 2002 GT had 167,xxx miles on it on all original running gear and I sprayed the ever living crap out of it on a regular basis with a 150 shot and I never had any problems with it. I would not be worried about that car in the slightest bit.

I've been getting the itch to get something fast again here lately. I'm building that 98, but it's going to be a while before it's even remotely close to being ready. To be honest, I have been looking at more corvettes, GTO's, and trans am's than anything. But I still check to see if there are any mustangs I like.

Yeah, gas sucks... I'm getting like 16mpg in the city and maybe 20 highway. That's with the 5.7L Hemi. Also, with the Hemi they recommend using 89 so that adds a bit to it. I actually enjoy driving my truck alot more than I do my Mustang lol ...
I feel the same way. My truck is waaaaay nicer to drive than my Fox. I love the cool factor and the exhaust note with the Fox and still drive it for those reasons. But I'm ashamed to say I drive it now in part because it get's better mileage than my F150. :(
