Air bag dash light

93 LX convertible. Air bag light continuously blinks 3/4. Horn works, cruise works and bag has not blown in my face yet. Is this a code that can be reckoned with or is the clock spring gone? And where does one find a new clock spring for a 93? Thanks, guys, I'm an old man with a new toy!

Gen. 1 airbags are dangerous, in my old '91 I disconnected the power to the airbag, and simply pulled the bulb out of the dash for it. I had a front end collision in that car, and I am very grateful that I had it disconnected, I've heard a lot of stories about those old airbags breaking noses, removing thumbs, and all kinds of horror.

Will pulling the fuse disconnect power as you explain or is there more to it? Thanks for the tip(s), I think I'd rather take my chances without the bag.

There is a fuseable link that I disconnected, it was several years ago, so I would have to look it back up in my service manual. Also, that was a '91, the wiring should be the same, but I can't be 100% sure. I'll post what I can get out of my manual here in a little while.

Alright, according to my '91 service manual, it is a 16ga fuseable link, yellow, that feeds power to the airbag system. Also you have to disconnect the backup power supply for the bag, that is a blue box that is a little larger than a deck of cards and it is mounted on the steel frame for the dash, about behind the HVAC controls/radio. After that, your airbag light should just stay lit, and then just pull the bulb from the back of the instrument cluster, and you should be safer!
