Steeda tri-ax or MGW shifter?

I sometimes wonder how beneficial the lower half of a shifter really is. I had a stock shifter, hurst, and b&m all laying here and tried to find the differences between them and honestly they had the same throw. The main differences was how the center themselves when in neutral the hurst and b&m were quicker to re center than stock. When I picked up my 83 I slapped the shorter handle from the b&m on the stock shifter and it diddnt feel as sloppy as before. Just some food for thought
Shorter throw, positive stops(the real tranny saver), and quick re-centering to prevent missing 3rd gear. Actually B&M and Hurst were the worst aftermarket shifters I've ever used. I never had either of them on any of my cars but I've driven other peoples' car with them. Steeda and Pro 5.0 were the best for a long time. I haven't driven a car with a MGW yet but I've heard that they're even better than Pro 5.0 and Steeda. I'll see when I get mine.

Idk if you've ever had your t5 apart but under the white plastic square inside there's spots for the ball to drop in. I'm pretty sure the stops are a myth . Like I said the 3 shifters I had everything was the same except the stops and recentering and I've slammed 3rd gear really hard with the stock shifter at least 35 passes this season with the stock shifter and am yet to miss a gear and shift past a certain point. I just happened to have the shifters on the bench this summer and look them over.

Riverart I was thinking of doing the same setup as you have, I had the Hurst kit in my '91 but still had the stock shifter. I was wondering even with the long handle of the Hurst stick, is it still very beneficial to be running a tri-ax under it?
You know, I don't remember what the stock shifter felt like anymore, but I can tell you that when I put the Hurst stick in, it definitely wasn't as short a throw anymore. Again, I saw another car with the hurst stick and I just wanted to try it. I'll keep both and possibly switch them around. I don't really run my car fast anyway.

I've had both.

Bought a tri-ax and ran it for a whole. Never really loved it. Found someone on the board who wanted to trade an MGW for the triax. Did it and love the new shifter
