Wagner Thermo quiets are nice stock replacements as well. Avoid any poop boys, Advanced Auto or any house brand pads. Don't forget the disc brake pad anti squeak spray or gel. I always at a minimum turn my rotors if they are within spec or replace with new ones, repack the bearings with fresh grease, and check the calipers and hoses for leaks. Spray down the rotors with brake clean after you get them back from the machine shop or even new ones to remove any crud, film, or grease marks. Make sure you preload the bearings with a torque wrench after install.

While you are at it think about replacing the following, as it makes a noticeable improvement in braking for not much $$$
-replace the stock 25 year old hoses with a new set- SS is a nice upgrade-
-SS caliper bushings for the bolts
-Lincoln MKVII 73MM calipers- bolt right in vs the stock 60MM calipers.

thanks guys.. i have new rotors, bearings and seals here already. need the advice on the pads...

just looked up the hawk pads. they say low dust so maybe i'll give those a try...

probably changes the hoses while under there too since like stated they are 25 years old. still gathering the parts to do it nice the weather breaks..

I'm going to suggest against ceramics... They make a lot of heat and push it into the rotor.

True, but that is the trade off with better stopping power, less dust.squeaks. If you have to brake hard, just drive normal for a few minutes to let the brakes cool off. I've run ceramic pads for years and never had a warped rotor. Also, it is critical to break in the pads properly when you first install them with a series of 35-5 then 55-5 stops.

I ran ceramics for about 5000 miles on the lightning blew threw a red light from brake fade from heat. That's the first and last time I ran ceramics . I'll deal with dust

Thanks for the replys guys.

The car is only a family cruiser that is only used on nice days. Figure once I do the brakes I won't have to do them for a long time. Car is lucky to get 5000 miles a year put on it.
