Electrical Pats or what?

I have taken out my gauge cluster to add chrome rings and clean the dust out of it. I glued in the rings and I want to let it dry overnight. I tried to start the car without the cluster to put it in the garage for the night. It turns over, runs for a second, and dies. That's because of the PATS system right? Once I put the cluster in tomorrow it should work. Anybody know for sure?

as i understand it, the PATS system just deals with and uncoded key being inserted... it immobilizes the engine.... i wouldn't think it would crank at all if that was the case.....
