Progress Thread The Only Part Of A Chevy You Don't Have To Tow (until Now), Into An Sn95.

Let me know how that trans dipstick works out. I have heard it is a pain to fill the trans with that dipstick.
Oh I imagine it will be. There's absolutely no tunnel clearance for anything fixed though :(
We've been around this enough to know that's how it always is. Not worth making setting goals in that regard mayne.
Yeah I should have known better. Always take your time frame and budget and double them. Rule still holds true.

Already talked to someone this evening about putting a 10pt w/ swing outs in the car. Nothing set in stone but I think that's what I'll do.

Doing a cage how much of the interior is saved?
If I do it now it'll be a 10 pt, halo and all but will retain all the interior. Now that's not to say I won't have to do some trimming but the biggest benefit of a custom cage is we'll be able to tuck everything tightly and keep the factory look to it all. I'm not a fan of gutted out race cars

Tensioner ended up being a nice piece. Still gonna need a shorter belt
Pulled the passenger air bag and all the gauges. Luckily they were all the kind that clipped over the factory trim so that saves some trouble. Need to pull the gauge cluster when I've got a little more time.
Hopefully the LRS rep gets back to me soon as I'm trying to pull the trigger on an SVE wheel package. Just need to see if I can swap out the rear tires to 28s.

This is exactly why I pulled the dash

Freakin mess. Everything tapped to the fuse panel, hacked up Viper Alarm system, gauges all half-assed. I hate this kind of stuff.

Stripped all the "custom" wiring and the alarm system. Had to redo some of the ignition wiring where it was tied in. Removed the aftermarket cluster, and pulled the passenger bag and duct work.

Going to build a bracket to mount the ECU here when the time comes.

I really want to use the factory cover. It just snaps into place and I'd rather have it than a plain remake. Most likely it wont seperate from the air bag without damaging it. Hoping I'm wrong.

I thought that you were all kinds of disgusted w/ the butchered factory wiring harness.
I might have been a little unclear. The factory harness is all still there it was just the birds nest of crimped and twisted wires that were snaked all through the console. That's all in the trash bin now and we're back to factory. I'd like to see what Mr. Francis has for a couple other areas though.

I must say I am guilty of installing a viper (DEI style) alarm in my fox. But, I would hope it is cleaner than that mess. It ain't ever going to come out LOL. Take all that wire to recycling. Copper is expensive these days.

Hit a deer this morning. Going to reallocate some money towards putting my beater back together. Hopefully have it back together Monday and I can work on the mustang a bit

that sucks. I have seen the damage those things can do to a car. Not too many here where I live. On a side note, I have a surprise for ya on Monday. Photos will be up and coming.

Got both front fenders, a hood, front bumper and both headlights already painted the right color for my DD for $120. Hopefully change those out tonight and start prepping the bad spots on the mustang in the morning

Ummm what is said humpty ride to which you can get all that for $120? neon?
'97 5spd civic. It's as basic as a car can get and I absolutely love it. No neons, no huge mufflers. Just a silent car that knocks down 40mpg on my 40 mile drive to work.

Other than a small dent on the hood it's actually 100x better than before the deer haha

Not bad for being an awful painter. Also did drivers fender, and drivers quarter.
Unfortunately I had to order more paint for the roof and passenger quarter. :doh:So it'll be about 2 weeks til I finish and clear it.

Painted the roll bar and relaid the carpet/vacuumed. Exciting stuff

Removed the cover from the passenger bag.

Going to get some Velcro so it's a little more sturdy but it clicks into place pretty well.

Here's where the ecu will be, as demonstrated by the factory amplifier which is probably not even close to the same dimensions

Disassembled the cluster. Going to use this to measure out some ABS plastic and mount the holley gauge behind the clear cover.

Where do you find the time to do this?

Glad to see the airbag did not go off in your face.... I wish I had a paint gun to lay done some color.... even primer.

So I promised you something new today so here we go:

1990 GT no motor no trans. was an auto. Has black interior which is in awesome condition. Suppose to have 4.10 gears. Havent got into the car too much but it also has some suspension stuffs to include griggs SFCs.

And it came with a 1989 red vert GT as a donor car for the ground effects, drivers side fender, front bumper and exhaust. It is also suppose to have 3.55 gears in it that I want to swap for the 4.10's. It also has aftermarket LCAs and new bushings.

Bought both for around $1000 to include gas. Borrowed a friends trailer and made two very long trips to get them both today. I will send you some pics of the red one. Too tired as it has been a long day.

And sorry if I derailed your thread. I don't want to start my own yet.

You'd be surprised to know I work 50 hour weeks AND swing shift haha

Glad to see the airbag did not go off in your face....
I actually didn't have to make contact with the bag, just trim along the edge but it crossed my mind
I wish I had a paint gun to lay done some color.... even primer.

Another suprise...aerosol! Just have to be very slow and patient. Neither of which I'm good at. But this will suffice until I can get a pro to lay down fresh paint

Oh don't worry about that. This thread has literally zero interest outside of 2-3 people due to the engine involved (sucks but expected) so you can pretty well do what you please. Don't even think the mods click on it haha
