    '65 coupe project for sale

Time has come for me to part with my mustang, for financial reasons.. I realize I don't have enough money and time or space to finish my project.. The shell was going to have some metal repair and paint stripped before I realized I either need to button it up and move it, or sell it. So I...

    Entering uncharted territory

Hi y'all... So I'm getting ready to start working on rusted sheet metal and doing bodywork... two things that are very foreign to me. When it comes to engine mechanical, removal, various other tasks, even electrical... it's like I'm at work, and no big deal at all. Anyways, I'm ready to jump...

    8.8" axle/w housing in a '65

I have a '65 I'm swapping the 8" for an 8.8. The housings are within a few inches of eachother, which could be offset by wheels... but if I'm going to mini-tub the back , I think I will need to shorten the housing accodringly.. correct? I've read a thread by Mustangman70 about swapping an...

    After 5+ years...

I'm finally getting to work on the stang again. I've been lurking but not posting for the last 5 to 6 months... I used to be here all the time 5-6 years ago. About that time I put a cam/intake/carb on my 2bbl 289, ended up spinning a cam bearing and pulling the 289/c4. Since then I've just...

    Pulled engine/trans today

After many weeks of procrastinating.. I finally got the cherry picker and some help in pulling my motor. I had the hood off and some stuff disconnected prior to today, but ended up having to take a bunch more stuff out. All in all, made a little bit of a trans fluid/ coolant mess, nothing...

    the news on my engine

So a friend's dad who builds hot rods came over and listened to my knock. Having never heard a bearing knock, I wanted to get a professional's opinion. Sure enough, he's saying its a rod knock. Cool thing is he offered to help me rebuild the 289, and he has a hoist, along with a huge air...

    Thinking about selling the stang

I drove a 96 gt today at work, almost got a ticket in it.. but man, was it fun. The car pulled really hard in 1-4th and really screamed over 4k rpm. It had stock exhaust w/flows and gears I'm guessing. So I'm hooked on the 4.6s. Knowing what kind of money it would take to get mine to that...

    Not sure what just happened...

Just put on an edelbrock carb and fired up the engine. Fast idle was on so it was idling around 3k, I shut it off, fire it back up and now it sounds like there's something bouncing around in my engine. It increases when I rev the engine. I'm almost positive nothing fell in the intake. I hope...

    Carb recommendation?

Hey everyone, I'm sure some of you remember the issues I was having a while back with my holley. I'm looking for some suggestions on what size and type of carb I should run with my 289. See sig for engine combo, stock heads and no stall converter. Tried a 525 road demon jr... no matter...

I was a good citizen and filed early... woohoo I get 1100 thats almost enough to get all the components... not including machine work. Now I just need to deceide if I want to go with a 302 or 351...how much trouble is it stuffing a 351 in a '65-'66? same mounts as a 289/302?

    Choke wiring

Where's the best place to run 12v for an electric choke? The stator wire off the alternator? What color is this wire on a '65? Thanks,

Ready to throw my holley out..

I'm still having problems with this friggin holley.. I've rebuilt it twice, can't seem to figure out what the heck the problem is.... Other than I'm running way too rich and fouling my oil. I changed from 64 to 62 jets during the last rebuild, thinking I was stepping down, but now I think I'm...

    Arrival

Received the 8" traction lock today, gotta love getting home to a huge box weighing 100 lbs. I took a chance on buying from this guy out of Ohio, he's a retired technician, builds 8s and 9s on the side, can convert your 8" housing to fit a 9" also. It took him a month and a half, but finally got...

    running too rich

I can't seem to get my carb to lean out.... Carb is a holley 4160 list # 9834-2 Ive checked both float levels and both are right below the check screw when the car's running. Idle screws are turned all the way in and have no effect on the idle. I had it on the gas analyzer at work and it was...

Killed my second tranny last night

:nonono: Not in the stang, luckily... in my daily driver, a 93 olds cutlass cierra 3.3L with a 3spd automatic. It started slipping a few months ago but would still hold gear if I pushed real slow on the gas. Then last night while dropping a dinner date off, I go to reverse on a hill... not...

    idle fluctuations

When idling at a stop light for any period of time, sometimes my idle starts to fluctuate from about 650 to 750/800, then back down. It gets to the point where the engine wants to die. How do I get it smoothed out? play around with the mixture screws?
