Finally autocrossed my '94 Cobra... DUW!

The beautiful thing about autocross is that it is almost entirely about driving skill. A good driver can run fantastic times even with a bad car. I run my 350Z in the C Stock class and consistently fall into the top three in my class. However, when I let one of the professional drivers race...

    Lifter Problem w/ picture

I'm replacing that lifter and checking all the others. The guy from Crane Cams thinks that there may have been some water sitting on that lifter and caused the corrosion. Since this is on the #5 exhaust and that is in the front corner of the valley he may be right. I don't recall any water in...

    Lifter Problem w/ picture

This happened over a period of time. It was hard to diagnose because the tick was only present once the oil reached temperature. It was totally non-existant at cooler temps. The engine has about 4K miles on it since the rebuild.

    Lifter Problem w/ picture

I have had a lifter tick for a while now and finally narrowed it down to the #5 exhaust lifter. My first indication that it was this lifter was when I tried to adjust the lash there was no back pressure as I turned the lock nut down a half turn past zero lash. I suspected a collapsed lifter...

How will pulling the Vert front cross-brace affect my car?

No problems here. I'm running with full length welded sub frame connectors and no strut tower brace. To be honest the car feels more solid with this set up than it did with the original. If I were launching hard on slicks I might rethink the situation but as a street car this set up is fine.

Week 10..We Have Ignition AND Liftoff!!

This same strange gremlin is in my car. I was afraid to post such a crazy problem but I'm glad to see it happen to someone else. I still have no idea what causes it after many attempts to correct. Let me know what you find.

    Need to lower the front...

I'm looking for a little cosmetic advice. I installed Eibach springs a few years ago to lower the car approximately 1 inch. I can't remember what model the springs are ( I believe they are Pro Kit) but the problem is this. When I swapped out the motor and removed a great deal of weight from...

    Engine Mounts

I have done this twice and have no advice to give but... when you are at your wits end and a torque wrench is flying through the air at the neighbor's cat the mount will somehow, miraculously, pop into place.

    Who here autocrosses?

I've been racing my 350Z for two years now with a local sports car club (My Mustang is over powered and under braked). I usually finish within the top three in my class which is B-Stock. Officially my car is classed in C-Stock but the competition is just not there. Racing at this level is...

    Replacing Power Steering Hose

I am looking to replace the power steering hose that comes out of the pump and down to the rack with a stainless braided piece. The factory hose has a metal 90 degree bend in the first six inches that routes the hose up and forward. Would there be a problem with running a hose directly down...

    A drip!!! Just Painted!! Anyone???

You will need to sand the drip down until perfectly level with the rest of the clear being careful not to cut all the way into the base coat. The paint stirrer suggestion is the one I believe in most to do this. Once you have wet sanded the spot smooth with 2000 grit the area will look...

Finally got around to the Outside (Pics)

That's it. The gauges worked out pretty well in that arrangement. I went to all mechanical gauges and placed them in the dash with a piece of red aluminum.

Finally got around to the Outside (Pics)

Thanks for the input! To answer your questions: I am sending it off to have the paint professionally done. The original paint is starting to fade and I am experimenting on my own with what you see above. Once I decide on exactly what I want I will send it off. The car is perfectly...

    A drip!!! Just Painted!! Anyone???

If the base coat ran as a result of applying the clear coat (some base/clear paint combinations are incompatible and the clear will actually cause the base to liquify) then you will have to correct the base coat and reapply the clear. If it is a run in the clear then things are much easier...

Finally got around to the Outside (Pics)

This is still a work in progress. I am still trying to settle on a paint scheme before I commit the car to paint jail. The car has a white top so it is difficult to find the right look. How about some input? [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG]

    Voltage Regulator Q?

My car is wired different than stock. I have a positive lead wired to the fuse block like normal. The fuel pump is on its own circuit separate and apart from the chassis harness. It is wired like this: Battery positive - 20 amp fuse - inertia switch - positive side of the pump - negative...

    Voltage Regulator Q?

I have an electric fuel pump wired directly to the positive side of the battery with a fused circuit. Whenever I increase the electrical load on the car (brake lights, turn signals) the fuel pump speeds up or slows down accordingly. Would a voltage regulator help me in this situation? I'm...

    kooks headers ?

Make sure to put the silicone on the individual tubes not inside the collector. That way any excess gets pushedout where you can wipe it up rather than into the collector where it becomes a big rubber glob that restricts your exhaust. I figured that out the hard way. BTW I had to send my...
