Sounds like an insurance job to me. That car has the theft key, so you can't steal it, unless you break into the garage, get in it and push it to where your tow truck is parked.
If the car was stolen no matter which way, I bet the Mega Millions Lottery, which is 267 million this Friday, that the car is cut up and everything was sold already. I see many of those cars at my auction sites stripped to the bone. They still bring big money too, even for just the shell, because scandalous theives retitle cars with those vin tags, or they have all the stolen parts, and fix the damn thing......
