Inroads.
All the time I'm bitchin about not making progress, I'm actually working on it. Just like in the movie Pale Rider, if you beat on a big ass rock long enough, it starts to break into smaller pieces.
Well I've been beatin on that damn rock for about a month now.
These are the smaller pieces:
The garage had reached epic filth proportions. I had to back the car out, and blow the place out.The hood has been a giant pain in the butt, mainly because there is a dent in the center rib. I couldn't fix/fill that dent before welding the scoops on for obvious reasons, and now that they're on they just have been dealing me fits. Still not done, but I wanted to get a look at the front end from farther away than 2 feet.
I'm really happy I decided to move the plate to the bumper. I like the rectangular opening much better than the old version. I just knew that I'd hear it from the Chevy boys that the tail light recess resembled a bowtie. I saw that myself. Not anymore. It's not perfect by any stretch, it's "very good". There are little jinky doos that you'd have to focus on to notice, but once the ribbed center is in the middle, the recess is painted satin black (against a Competition Orange body) and sequential led 68 Shelby tail lights are in place, I don't think anybody will fixate on the imperfections.
The bumper wasn't bad to cut and recess a plate so that the license plate could live there. I found these little led lights that serve as license plate lights that also act to hold the plate on so I think the "how to light the plate" dilemma is solved.
Now that that is solved,.....The plate will keep the cops happy.
I also got the grille pretty far along towards being finished,...but I'm gonna hold off on that pic till I'm happy with the end result.
So, all in all, I'd say the car is 80% done w/ regard to body work. Whats left is to finish the stinkin hood, some small transition stuff at the front bumper. Priming, and blocking. I'm gonna shoot for end of April as paint day.
The car runs, It's 95% wired, only needing the lights to tied in, and some bugs worked out with the tune. The interior is mostly done, so I cant really see anything that'll stop this car from making the rounds this summer.
If I don't kill myself first trying to get it finished.
