I am ordering an 08 GT that will be my dd and will see the strip on occasion. Is there a noticeable difference between the 3.31's and 3.55's? I am curious about both acceleraion and gas milage. Is the slightly deeper ratio of the 3.55's worth the $300 cost? As I do mods down the road would it be more benificial to have the 3.55's? TIA:flag:

If you don't plan on changing the gears out later, go with the 3.55's. If you plan on going up to 3.73's or 4.10's, then get the 3.31's.

Gears are very important on the way a car excellerates, 3:31 or 3:55 isn't enough gear, I swapped in 4:30's, now it has gear and it's like being shot from a gun. The 3:55 is for sure better, but like DarkFire says, if your going to want more gear in the future, save the 300.00 for some 4:10's or 4:30's. The 4:30's didn't really change my mpg that much that it jumped out at me or anything. It can actually save you some gas a round town driving where your not laboring the engine as much between lights, you stay in your power band.

I agree with what they said, if you plan on gears in the future then get 3.31's...I have them and honestly they aren't terrible but I drive alot on the highway so every bit helps.

+(forget the count:rlaugh: ) on not spending $300 for 3.55s if you may swap out down the road. Even guys going F/I are still going at least 3.73 and quite a few of the S197 guys are even running 4.10s no problem:nice: I'd say get the base 3.31s and put the $300 towards the CAI/tune or adjustable rear suspension parts that will be more beneficial. I have the 4.10s, CAI/tune in my auto and my gas mileage is nearly the same as it was with the stock tune and 3.31s.

The fact that you're asking this type of question leads me to believe that you will want 3.73's - 4.30's sometime in the future, so don't spend the money on 3.55's at this time.
In my opinion, it isn't worthwhile stepping up one gear size, 3.31 to 3.55, 3.55 to 3.73, etc, because you won't feel as noticable a difference as switching 2 or more sizes, and you will still want more gear.
I went from stock 3.55's to FRPP 4.10's and I'm glad I did.
It was noticable, oh yeah it was noticable.

We have a two lane turn that turns into one lane shortly after the stoplight.
I love getting in the outside lane, turning off my TC, punching it when the light turns green, and making it to the merge before the guy in the inside lane.
I just have to make sure I don't get too excited, otherwise I just sit there roasting the tires.
Still impressive, but defeats the purpose. :D

If you were closer I'd swap with you. I'm planning on going turbo and I need 3.55's. I have 4.10's now :(

haha.. Dude come down to Florida!! You know you want to, great weather. I'm right by the beach and the drag strip it will be fun.

We'll take our cars to my local dealer who has steeda professionals and they can swap our gears!!!

Then afterwards we'll cruise by the beach :nice:
