Easy question for soemone who knows......does a 3.25" stroke crank and rod combo clear the bottoms of the 302's bores or does it need to be clearenced like the 3.40" stroke setups do?

I was thinking about doing a 331 with i-beam rods to save money. I have no plans to juice or boost the engine so I-beams are plenty strong enough. Eagle says their I-beam rods are good for like 600 hp. My goal would be only 400 or so at the crank tops.

Depends on the rod and rod bolt. The basic I beams that come in the $1000 cast steel crank kits are fine. I upgraded to probe ultralight I beam rods with 7/16" cap screws for a lighter higher rpm rod for my n/a 347. The basic stuff uses a 3/8" bolt I think.

hey $superstang, in your sig it says 325, I've never heard of a 325, I'm not trying call you out, but where did you get it. I'm just curious, because the lowest stroker kit I've heard of besides the long rod 306 is the 327.

Someone once sold a 3.20" stroker crank which I think makes a 325.
