351W block (pic)

I have a 69 351W block with a strange hole in it??...(can anyone explain this)

I am a newbie when it comes to motors, but by the looks of the hole it's not supposed to be there!!...any help would be great...thanx

I just checked my 74' block and it has a hole there too!

Thats is the oil hole that lets it go to the timing chain.

it vents pcv from the timing area up thru the valley to the breather(s)
