I have an 01 mustang bullitt. I am going to be getting some rearend gears. I drive my car only about 10 miles a day with an average speed of 45 mph to and from school. I like to take my car to moroso on weekends. My best time to date is a 14.5 at 97 with crappy sumitomos. If I run 275/40 r17 mt et streets with 4.10 gears what would be a good estimated time to run? Also would a 3.73 gear be a better choice for me and if so about how much slower would it be than a 4.10 at the track? What rpm's would I get at 70mph on the highway with 4.10s or 3.73s. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!:Track: My mods are 1.upr x/pipe with slp lm2 2.Hurst shifter 3.An sct 4bank switch chip along with the gears. 4.k&n air filter
Here's some calculations I did to make my decision on my '01 Cobra. Not sure if the Bullitt comes with the TR3650 trans. .....................................3.27s........3.73s..........4.10s 4th gear@40 mph........1700 ..........2040.......... 2125 ...............@30 mph ......1275..........1530...........1594 5th gear@50 mph .......1400 ..........1610..........1750 ...............@60 mph ......1680 ..........1932..........2100 ...............@70 mph ......1920...........2208..........2450 From my stock 3.27's, 3.73's were a 15% increase in RPM and 4.10's were a 25% increase in RPM
You are a good candidate for FRPP 4.10 gears. You should be well into the 13s with 4.10s and ET Streets. With 4.10s, in 5th gear, 75mph = 2500 rpm.
i say 3.73's, 4.10's are good on the street, but 3.73's are better on the highway, and like one person said, better for a blown application. but personal preference, i would go with 3.73's just because you'll still be able to get ups on the highway.....if needed.
What are your 60ft times? You should be running high 13's - 14.0 right now with your mods... 4.10's are perfect for the 1/4 mile, but will hurt you if you are not launching correctly, or shifting at the correct rpm. Get some more seat time, you've got more potential in the setup you have now than you might think.
i did the same, although a 3.90 might be a perfect gear for someone not driving the car every single day
Once it comes off the jack stands gettin' the H&R springs and Tokico shocks, it heads for the shop to get 4.10's. I only use the car for fun on the weekends in the nice weather so I don't much care about the high rpm's on the highway.
If you did would you go with 3.73 or 3.90's or 4.10's? As far as the 01 mustang bullitt go with 3.90's (perfect so your car)
I went with 3.73s in my automatic and feel this is the perfect gear for my car and plans. I could possibly see me going with 3.90s and being happy, though I doubt I would like the 4.10s by any means.
hell, even with 3.73's I run out of gear WAY too fast. Who wants to trade for a set a 3.27s. I want more top speed.
