it has been 8 months now since i have driven my car:mad: and it doesnt even seem like a even own a car now. sure, i see it under its cover everytime i walk outside but it isnt the same as actually getting to drive it. i bet i have spent 6-8K on it since it was parked. the new engine is paid off in full and HOPEFULLY if my builder gets time to work on it i MAY have it back by Mustang Week.(just needs a valve job and top end assembled) it is really frustrating to spend and spend and spend on a car that sits for 350 days out of the year even when it is running! (i did drive it a total of 4-5 times last year) i have cobra brakes, UPR upper and lower control arms and the NOS spray bar to finish installing but i dont even feel like working on it anymore. it seem like this build is never going to end!! i sometimes go out to the car after work and sitin it for a few minutes just to see what the cobra seats and FR500 wheel would be like to actually use:(. i have almost stopped buying parts for it now and have started buying other stuff that i dont even need. i bought $600 in parts for my ATV last week and i was just about to order an AK47 kit last night, but i'm trying to keep myself on track with the car somehow.

how do you guys keep yourselves from getting sick of spending all your time and money on your car when it is down for such long periods? i'm starting to think about selling everything off the car and getting something else that i dont have to work on so much, or just using the money from the car stuff to pay off all my auto related debt.

sorry for the rant, i'm really frustrated with my damn car right now

dont worry man, just hang in there, it would be pointless to quit now, you have gone too far down the road. Theres no turning back lol, only way out is death. lol, nah man, just hang in there, it'll be totally worth it in the end.

you should share some recent build progress pics of the interior and engine and some pics of the outside of the car so that we can drool over it and give you some encouragement to make you feel better about yourself. positive reinforcement is key.

oh and i have the FR500 steering wheel and i love it. when you get to start driving it you will love it!!

8 months? thats a log time. dont sweat it though it will be worth it in the end. I dont understand how you could think about turning around now after spending 6-8k. find another engine builder if you have to so you can get the thing running.

the bottom end has been assembled since Nov. the heads have been ported since Jan. it wouldnt take more than a days work to finish my engine, but the shop is VERY busy and a lot of the projects are falling FAR behind schedule. i was promised itwould be in the car running and tuned by MW, but i dont know if that will happen.

i just want my car back running, even if it only has 375hp again!

Id be pissed man, even though the shop has alot of work, your motor has obviously been there, disassembled (fully) for a long time.

Your paying for it, why should yours go on the back shelf untill they "have time" for finish it? Do you think they are telling everyone else their stuff is going to have to wait?

Quality work is key, but so is running a good business with a fast turn around on work done.

I hope it gets together soon though. I hated not driving my car for a little over a month untill I could fix my brakes and find/swap some quality springs... 8 months and id probaly just want to get it running and sell it, or else drive it hard as hell and break something else, lol.

I hope its done for MW man, your car has stood out to me every year that I have seen it there!!!

If you sell it, you will always regret it. I have thought about selling mine, as well. Basically my friends keep telling me to quit being a little ****.. and so far its worked!!! :)

Dont worry so much about it, the car will get built and it will be awesome! I have been following your build.. I want to do a lot more to my car.. I just need to get a daily driver first :) You have already finished the hard part, and thats coming up with the cash and buying the parts.

You could always go pick up your parts and assemble the heads / rest of the motor yourself...? I mean, you just dropped 6-8 G's - you owe it to yourself to get this project done! :nice:

I sorta know how you feel with the parts drama, i've been looking at a stack of parts for longer than i would have liked to. But then again i get to drive my car, even if it is still slow

I feel ya man, I've only drove my car once in about 8 months too and that was to PHP to get the car tuned and the tranny built. They have had my car since Feb. 1 and it’s still not done. :( I’m hoping this week though. But you got to look at it this way you’re going to have a completely different beast when you get it back. I’m actually getting nervous getting it back since its going to be MUCH faster than before and I haven't drove it in so long. LOL

I know what you mean on selling it too, I almost did on an 08 C6 Vette but after thinking about all the money I would be throwing out the door and not wanting to blow all my money on a car payment every month turned me off. I drove all kinds of cars 07 GTs, C5s , C6s, C5 Z06s, 03-04 Cobras and none of them were like my car. They weren't near as fast and even though they were nicer, I knew I would miss the speed and knowing I got a car that could beat 90+% of the cars on the street. Of course I could mod them just like my car but then I’d be in the same situation I’m in now.

I all ready have a race with a C6 Z06 and a KB Cobra lined up and can’t wait to see the out come.

Since Feb 1st? Is it just the tranny or the t-trim as well? Cuz with me removing and installing the tranny myself with building it took a week

No I did the T-Trim which only took a day.

The trans took like 2 weeks waiting on parts and install and then Paul was in Florida for two weeks for an NMRA or FFW and then at another competition. Plus the weather has been very cold and snowy and they don't like to tune the car if its below 35* or 40* and then they fine tune it on the street and can't do that because of the roads.

Fingers Crossed for this week. I got to call tomorrow and see if I can pick her up Friday.

Nobody feels your pain more that I do at this point. I have considered selling my car as well, but I would never get the time and money invested back out of it. With all of the setbacks I have had when I get behind the wheel and drive it again it will all be worth it. The feeling of being thrown in my seat, and freaking out passangers who aren't aware of what 641 Horse feels like. I keep going because I love the mustang. I love the way people stare at me when I drive it, because they wish it was theirs. Try to stay focused on what the end result will be. I garuntee you won't be disapointed..........unless something else breaks :) With all modded Mustangs, that is the nature of the beast.

im surprised you blew a head gasket, i've seen a guy who ran 26psi turbo into his block and "melted" the head but he said the FRPP gaskets were still holding fine

Ya me too, but it's broke now. Only thing to do is get it fixed asap. I'd rather have a blown gasket than a melted head anyday.
