If it snaps at the rear, it wouldn't do nearly as much damage as at the front u-joint would it? As long as your weren't going in reverse when it broke I don't think it would flip you over. :shrug:
 
I know this thread is old but I have had my Aluminum driveshaft for a month now. I can't say I feel any performance increase, but the car does run a bit smoother and I swear I have gained 1-2 mpg since I installed it. I was always dead on at 22 mpg but have now been averaging 23-24 mpg. At least it may pay for itself in a few years.
 
Al Driveshaft

I just got one and installed it. I had a minor vib after getting 3.73 gears and the shaft got rid of it. More power? You'll never feel it. It's a nice piece and really easy to install. I got mine from Diversified Products for $149 and $13 shipping. Very fast service.
