I drove my '88 coupe for the last 2 winters and it did really well. A couple of necessities IMO are synthetic oils for easier cold starts, tow hooks front and rear(because eventually you'll get stuck) and smoother shifting and directional snow tires. I have Nokians and they work awesome as long as you drive smooth. I've past 4WD tucks on ice covered highways with total control and even made it down the grid roads to the farm after or during a blizzard. The car has gone through 8-10 inches of hard snow because its light enough to drive over top of some snow. And talk about a fun car for doughnuts and drifting!
